Fit my 1989 XJ Cherokee 4.0 inline 6, cost a lot less than the "oem" bolts. 12 point instead of hex heads but thats the only difference, soclet required. I do recommend putting the 2 smaller bolts with the nipple sticking out on top in the middle areas as opposed to the ends; after torquing I had to uncomfortably cut the tip of one with a dremel due to it not letting the valve cover sit in place. Aside from that my engine's perfectly fine and it all torqued without feeling weird or stripping.

Surprisingly, the bolts fitted my pre-obd2 1989 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0 (Renix era) without any problems. Actually, it isn't a surprise, as I understand, all AMC242 4.0 I engines share the same head bolt pattern. The only difference is in the upper small threads on some bolts, which are used in the later HO engines to secure various harnesses. As it is described on the forums and here in reviews, you need to appropriately chose the location of those bolts (preferably, in the middle of engine) to assure seamless head cover aligning. It is my second time of successful using these bolts in Renix-era engines.

I installed these dry as recommended, and followed service manual instructions for a Jeep 4.0. Make sure to clean your bolt holes with de greaser, wire brush and compressed air; and make sure there NO liquid in the holes. Install went great!

This had 2 too many studs for my YJ's 4.0... at least they didnt match what the PO had put on the vehicle) and has the 12 point heads (or whatever they are) which are prone to stripping. So they're a downgrade from the hex heads I took off. They also require a special socket to put them on. I had to have them quick to get my head gasket replaced a certain day, so I got these They seem to have done the job, but I reused 2 old head bolts under the valve cover. They took the entire torque load without slipping, but I fear it may not prove so resilient upon removal. In either case, the product side the job and look to be close (if not precisely) OEM replacements. I'd just have preferred an upgraded hex head all things considered.

The factory manual (FSM) recommends that the head bolts be reused only once! How do you know if they have been replaced before? Why take a chance of a head bolt failure? These quality head bolts for a 1991 Jeep 4.0 in-line 6 cylinder will give you a feeling of security that you cannot get by reusing old head bolts. Cheep insurance against headbolt failure.

perfect replacement for the head bolts on the jeep 4.0l engine. If you have the head off just spend the money to buy the new bolts and chuck out the old ones. Even if they can be used twice before replacement is required. Why bother. You can also cut the heads off of a couple of the old ones and cut a notch in it to use a flat head screwdriver then just screw a couple in the block to help align the head then just take them off the block with a screwdriver once the head is down. Don't be like me though and leave them as long as you can. cut them short enough to stick out of the block only 1/2 inch or so otherwise you will have a problem lining them up.The correct socket for these is a deep well 12pt 1/2"

Exactly what it says it is. Installed on a 2004 jeep wrangler unlimited 4.0L.You will need thread sealer still and make sure you follow the service instructions which aren't included in this package.
