Came as the Fel-Pro box only, no extra box around it. Luckily everything was okay inside. Everything needed to do the head gasket is there including the 2 coolant pipe o-rings and the 4 oval air intake gaskets (not shown in pic). Saved $40 over AutoZone.

Car still running no issues, forced the engine a couple of times and haven't blown the head-gasket, BUT when i went to adjust the lifter and valve clearance i had to remove the valve cover, the seal had to come off the valve cover, after wanting to install it back on the gasket stretched and had to put it in the freezer for an hour to fit it back in. Other than that great kit so far

comes with everything you need for the head gasket and then some. Don't forget to replace your timing belt /water pump at the same time while you are in that far!

everything fit right. looks good. What it really could use (it it wouldn't be very hard at all) is a guide to tell you what some of the pieces are for. Yes, I know if you are buying this kit then you better know what you are doing. Well, I do but I don't replace all these gaskets and o-rings everyday so some of them are tough to identify.

Excellent gasket set. When I do a head gasket on a D17A1, I need an intake gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, valve cover gasket, camshaft seal, water bypass gasket, and if the cylinder head is going to the machine shop (and it should) I'll also need the valve seals. These are all included and more.If you have a V-TEC engine, you'll also need to purchase the gasket/screen. I believe the engine code for this is D17A2, but they use the same gasket kit, if I recall.

If you have missing coolant or bubbles in your rad, you'll need this kit. Replacing it is a bit involved but doable in your driveway, like I did. Make sure you get the aluminium head machined FLAT or you'll be doing it all over again. Mine was warped .003 which is way too much! Some people in forums said they sprayed a copper gasket coating on head gaskets but I watched a few vids and they said not to because the blue coating could get damaged. I did not use any spray, I installed it dry. Now, I did clean it well with a QUICK wipe of non-chlorinated brake cleaner and a lint free cloth. Don't soak the gasket with brake cleaner, to not damage the blue sealing coating. Make sure there is no lint on the gasket or any hairs/dirt/threads or that will be a spot where it'll leak, maybe not right away but in the future. Tip...if you machine your head I would file or sand down the two guide dowels so they'll be a little shorter so your head will touch the block and be properly torqued. My civic intake manifold bolts were rusted ROUND with no way to remove them! I used a long nose air hammer with a pointy bit that I sharpened and kept hammering the rounded bolts counter-clockwise till they finally came out...whew! My head gasket is working PERFECTLY after about 20,000 kms and my 556,000 km 2005 5spd civic is running strong again! Buy with confidence!
