This cable did the trick going from HDMI out on the Precision laptop to the VGA in on the Lenovo monitor. I gave it 4 stars because I found it to be a bit more costly than other cables, but at the same time it is a braided cable.

Wanted to get a HDMI signal from VGA port on a Dell Poweredge 610. Did not work. Ended up plugging in a real VGA-VGA cable in and it worked fine.
