I used this hydrometer for five different gallons of mead with melomels. Each recipe had different amount of raw honey so that the taste would range from dry to sweet. The hydrometer showed the expected initial readings for each recipe, I'll be making final readings before racking. If you use this hydrometer for a similar application, make sure you wash and sanitize the hydrometer after testing the specific gravity of each mead especially if you use different strain of mead for each recipe so you will not contaminate another batch. The hydrometer is made of clear glass, so immerse it gently (do not drop it in). The only little negative things I can think of is that I wished the blue region of the reading had been lighter blue to make it more visible. I recommend.
