The 3M smart filter may seem more expensive than non-smart offerings. However, being able to track available life (using app in a % left) means your not replacing your filter based on time (every 3 months). As an example, I'm at 34% left on 10/12/4 after starting use on 6/22/24. If you use your systems frequently, the benefit there is you'll know when to replace it to ensure it's still effective for filtration and not overly impeding airflow (which coul reduce the life of your HVAC over time).

I've been buying the Filtrete MPR 1500 Ultra Allergen filters for years. I will likely never go to another type of Filtrete, not to mention a different brand. If anything, I may go up a level or two if I ever anticipate lengthy construction projects in my home. However, I can say without a doubt that I feel my 3200 sq ft home has noticeably cleaner air. I've even had a slip of the mind and didn't change the filters for over four months before. Keep in mind, that's NOT a good idea.Nonetheless, the filters kept working fine and I noticed no degradation to my HVAC and during regular maintenance, there were no issues in my home system. Again, I strongly advise replacing them every three-ish months or less. I'd say that during normal operation, one should inspect the filters at least once a month.These filters are not restrictive whatsoever. I haven't noticed any issues in my heating and cooling for as long as I've used them--including when I accidentally went over in their lifespan.I'll keep buying these for as long as they make them and quality is maintained! Unlike some other reviewers, I have never had an issue with quality. I'd also like to point out that I do not care if the cardboard around the filters has tiny imperfections. It's hidden and has never affected the air quality or function of my system whatsoever.Buy these! You won't regret it.

The filters themselves were a bit mis-shapened from the factory, but that's not a huge deal. The two filters were shrink-wrapped and shipped in a brown cardboard box marked "FRAGILE"--great.

I hate the process of changing the air filter. Climbing the ladder to the 9 foot ceiling gets harder and more dangerous with age. We love the convenience of these smart filters. I'm sure over time it's saved us money. They're easy to use. Before you climb the ladder pull the tab on the sensor. Sync it via Bluetooth with the app. No more guessing when it's time to change the filter or when you put it in. All that info is right there in the app. No more living with a dirty filter since the app gives you a heads up alert at 10% remaining.

Solid filter, keep coils clean and filters unbelievable amount of particulates , I change mine every 6 weeks.

These are my favorite filters and my HVAC tech gives them the thumbs up. They usually dislike any filters other the cheapest throw away, but we had our unit replaced two years ago along with new ductwork and the MERV 2 we used before seemed to do little as our ducts were filthy and needed cleaning every two years. Since using these, the ducts are clean as new and less dust in the house. We now have two returns so they loss of flow is negligible and the improvement in air quality in the house is clearly better.
