We just had a new furnace and ac unit installed in our home and the unit calls for a 4 inch filter. The filter the hvac people put in our new unit didn't really reduce the dust in our home at all. I had kind of given up that a filter could help much in that regard. I had used the 1 inch 3m filters with our old hvac equipment with so-so results as we still had to dust at least once a week. This filter is a big step forward in dust control as if we miss a week or two the dust just isn't there anymore. I'll probably replace it every 4 months as that is how long our original filter lasted before it was nearly plugged up with dust. It does fit very tightly in our filter holder but that isn't the filters fault. I am always impressed by the quality of 3m and this filter strengthens my opinion of this company. March 3, 2015: Just an update that if you have pet(s), this filter needs replacement more often. Our dog sheds a lot, so my plan for four months is now three months! I totally believe the lady who changes her filter monthly due to 3 pets and smokers. My son and myself also don't have allergy symptoms anymore. This is a great filter that had drastically cut down on the dust in our home. Thank you amazon for the low price on these filters compared to any big box stores.

I purchased the 16×25×5 for my newer Armana. The size was absolutely perfect to my model of HVAC system in my 2200+ eq foot two story home.Changed today and notice a huge difference just like that, the air is less stuffy, thinner and crisp. I have seasonal allergies, seasonal asthma and pets... Definitely makes a difference to change every 6 months, I do Spring and Fall changes, late this year :/Note: I did not have any issues with damaged or diminished quality of the filter upon arrival. Other reviews mentioned poor quality or damages, even size issues... Not me, had a great purchase experience, will buy off Amazon again, cheaper than local stores!

Apparently 16 x 25 x 5 filters are not all alike and this one will not fit anyone’s furnaces it’s about an eighth of an inch too thick 3M should point this out perfectly good product but will apparently there are secondary dimensions that are more importantly

The price is fair for two of them, and we thought the quality was great for its price and brand we’re not familiar of. We usually use the Honeywell BestAir filters, but every store in our town didn’t have the size we needed. This was perfect for what we needed and so far it’s been effective. We use air purifiers throughout our house so with this filter on top of that, it doesn’t smell or feel heavy in the air. This was a good purchase and I think it’s worth the shot.

Buyers beware: Invalid and inconsistent size in the description. It appears that 3M decided to reduce the filter size for the same model. Zero support from 3M.The actual size of the 16x20x4 filter is 15-7/16 x 19-3/4 x 4-5/16 (or 39.3 x 50.3 x 10.9 cm), which is 7/16" or 1 cm narrower that the same model filter I bought a couple of years ago. As the result it doesn't fit well in the filter box. I called 3M, their recommendation was to go to a brick and mortar store and check the actual filter sizes. They couldn't even tell me if 3M makes filters thR would fit my furnace.

Probably a really good filter, but it doesn't properly fit in my Honeywell unit (installed in 2017). It is half an inch too narrow in the nominal 16" direction. The images for the product show dimensions that would have fit properly, but the actual dimensions on the package are different. I rigged the fit with shims so the filter would stay in position. Next time I'll go back to actual Honeywell filters.

Item is much wider than 4". I had to remove parts from the furnace to make it fit. Make sure you check your exact measurements.

If you have pets this filter is a must. I have five dogs and this filter was amazing. Costly but well worth it.

this is exactly what I am looking for with a great price.the package comes with a big box with 4 Filtrete filters inside. shipping is free is you can wait for it (about 10 days).One thing that you need to pay attention is that although it said 4 inch filter. it is actually bigger than 4 inches and closer to 5 inches.You will need to check the dimension of your filter container against the size of the filter before ordering.

Measure your old filter before buying. Theses are not an industry standard of being under size of the dimensions on the filter. Mine were 1/4 inch bigger on length and height, and 1/2 bigger in width than what was listed, so these filters will not fit my furnace.
