  • Cowhide Gloves – These heat-resistant gloves are usually videly used like blacksmiths, glass blowers, and others whose craft revolves around the use of intense heat.
  • The cowhide has a distinct advantage over silicone, it is breathable. It is mainly because this material is lighter, thinner, and more durable. These gloves usually come with long cuffs to protect the wearer’s forearms. These OLSON DEEPAK fireproof gloves also have soft and durable cowboy lining inner cuffs, very thornproof to wear. On the outside layer is cowhide split leather which is pretty standard for heat-resistant gloves. And on the inside is a soft cotton liner to keep your hands comfortable. Finally, there is a reinforced leather palm for added palm protection. These layers are all held together with flame proof stitching. Overall, we love the three-layer design for extra protection.
  • Can I Pick up a Burning Log when Wearing Fireplace Gloves?
  • We wear gloves as a backup if we accidentally touch something or get too close to heat and flames.
  • Are all leather gloves heat-resistant?
  • You’ll notice that many of the gloves advertise as ‘welding gloves.’ Not all leather gloves can be flame or heat-resistant. Leather fashion gloves aren’t tested for heat resistance. Therefore, using them for kitchen or industrial applications is not advisable, even though they probably save your hands from scalding when you spill coffee.Welding gloves are robust and designed to be much cheaper than expected. They are made of 1.2~1.4mm split leather. So they’re great for all sorts of different applications:
  • Welding
  • You can use many of these gloves for welding. Also, don’t forget to use a leather welding apron for fire protection if you’re welding.
  • Animal Handling
  • If you own a Macaw, you’ll know what we mean. Those nails are stiff. So you might want thick gloves to protect your arm when handling your bird.
  • Barbecues
  • When cooking at a barbecue or smoker, you might want to use your fireplace gloves for added protection.
  • Cooking
  • You can use your fireplace gloves as oven mitts. However, we prefer our fireplace gloves over oven mitts because they’re thicker! We hope this instructions of fireplace gloves has been helpful for you and helped you get a better understanding of your options. And we hope you enjoy your fireplace or fire pit in comfort with your new gloves!

Having had a fireplace for 20+ years now, I long thought fireplace gloves would be a better option than using the tongs that I got with my fireplace tool assortment. These gloves make it easy to place logs on a roaring fire without fear of getting singed by the flames. What's more, the gloves make your hold of firewood more sound as tongs can make for a loose hold on a log when feeding the fire. Wish I had purchased these gloves years ago.

I have been heating with wood for more than 35 years and during that time I have used a number of different gloves. I would rate this pair somewhere in the middle. On the plus side, they appear to be well made, of quality materials. The leather is supple and the liner is comfortable. My only issue with them is they are not as heat resistant as I would prefer. I have to remove the ash pan from my stove once or twice each day and empty the ashes into a bucket on the hearth. With my previous set of gloves I could do that without feeling any heat from the pan, but with this pair I find that I need to transfer the ashes to the bucket as quickly as possible, because I can feel the heat from the pan to the extent that it is difficult to handle it for more than a minute or so. For someone who needs a pair of gloves for tending a wood stove or barbecuing these gloves would be adequate and are a good value for the price. But for anyone who handles hot materials for extended periods of time, these gloves would probably not be satisfactory.

I bought this to manipulate the grill while camping, and they work excellent. I could grab the hot grill and even move some firewood around and was completely protected against the heat. Totally recommend it

The long cuffs of suede leather make all the difference as I reach into my wood stove with a log and get it positioned just right. The thickness of the material is just right. Thick enough for momentary exposure to high heat and thin enough for dexterity. And they feel great to wear.

NOT "EXTREME HEAT RESISTANT". These are noticeable thinner and less heat resistant than standard welding gloves you would buy from a major brand. Even my Harbor Freight welding gloves were quite a bit thicker and more resistant than these. They work fine for light duty work, but I would not wear them while doing heavy duty welding, and ESPECIALLY not for something like TIG welding where you have to have your hands near the heat/weld.These are also very very large. I wear a size large glove and these gloves are really big on me. They're about as large as XXL latex gloves as far as hand fitment goes.If you have very large hands and you plan on using these for light duty work like BBQ, wood stove, etc. these are fine, and they're cheap to boot. If you actually want gloves for welding, look elsewhere.
