This does exactly what I need it to do. I use it on an old German fiddle without a preamp and it works fine through the three different sound systems I've hooked into so far. It does a bit of weight to the instrument and dampens the sound a little bit, but that doesn't really matter since the sound is ultimately being amplified. I did have to sand down my bridge a bit to give the pickup enough room to slide into place. Other than that, installation was a breeze. It's not a huge hassle to put it on when I need it and take it off when I don't. The chinrest screw driver they include in the package is super tiny, but I keep a medium sized bent paperclip in my violin case so I've been using that instead. The construction is quality, no fiddly bits to break off. Glad I bought it!Edited 3/21/18: I recently purchased a Behringer V-Tone Acoustic Driver DI to improve the sound. While this pickup works without a preamp, I highly recommend getting one to improve the sound quality.

This pickup does the trick to get heard in my band. I pair it with the L.R. Baggs Acoustic DI and it sounds great. The only thing is I had to take it to a luthier to set it up because the bridge slot needed to be cut a tiny bit larger to get the transducer in there. But it wasn't an issue; he was able to install it perfectly. The fiddle is fine and the sound quality is great. Some people complain that it doesn't quite match "acoustic" quality. Yeah, good luck with that. As soon as you add any pickup, all acoustic sound is automatically lost anyway.I was between this and the L.R. Baggs violin pickup, but a professional at the music store I deal with explained that the Baggs has the pickup soldered to a separate bridge that you must use, and you must solder the other end yourself. And the problem is that if you mess up the bridge, you're typically out of luck since it is so permanently attached. In addition, the bridge that comes with the Baggs might need to be shaved down depending on how low you like it, and that must be done carefully or, again, you're out of luck.Too stressful. I'll stick with the simpler Fishman any day. It does everything I need it to do for a fair price and little hassle. Paired with a DI box, it sounds excellent.

I like how it fits on the violin, in my case. I don’t have to put it on each time. It’s easy to put on, if you have a bridge with a big enough gap other wise you may have to make that gap bigger. So far I just put it in the round opening and that has worked for me. It does sound good with my band. I feel like a star.

In a live worship band setting with drums, bass, electric guitar etc... it was a struggle to find an affordable option that would allow the violin to be heard clearly in the mix without the struggle of feedback. I finally discovered the Fishman V-200 Classic Series Violin Pickup at a John Denver tribute band. Their violinist introduced me to this little guy and it does wonders. I love it! I've tried lavalier mics and they can't handle the sound of the violin. I tried the Audio-Technica PRO 35 and that sounded nice, but couldn't cut through the mix without feeding back. The only other mic I'd love to try is the DPA violin clip on mic... but that's around $600 and I'm not ready to dish out that amount yet.

Needed a pickup that would be easy to put on/take off without damage to accommodate a variety of performance options (orchestra, coffeehouse, ensemble, outdoor). This device has served the need wonderfully. It did require a very small sanding of the win to fit, but that was easily and safely accomplished with an emery board (gasp). The sound quality through a sound system is very good. It does produce a slightly different sound to the ear of the person playing, but not problematic in any way. Several other musician friend have, or are considering purchase of the pickup after seeing it in action.

Product works well with my fiddle. Sound quality is good, it does not distort my fiddle’s natural sound. It’s worth the buck.Product build seems to be fair. Installation process went easy but I just had to cut slim portion of the bridge’s kidney area to perfectly fit the pickup.

I use this a couple times a month for playing on the worship team at church. It gives better quality sound than a mic. Easy to take on and off. It did take a bit of trial and error to find the right spot so my bow wouldn’t hit the cable when playing lower notes, as the chin and shoulder rests create a bit of an obstacle. Overall a compact, easy-to-use, quality product!
