The 4-48 threads fit my dial indicator perfectly. I needed to indicate threaded objects in a 4 jaw chuck and this flat indicator tip rides over the threads making it easy to measure and adjust the runout.

I used the flat tip to better sort projectiles the round tip my micrometer came with didn't cover the entire surface area of the projectiles.This flat tip does and works great which resulted in tighter groups.
