Installed this on my 2008 Ford F150. Had to move the rubber bumpers to the outside legs so they would make contact with the top edge of the tailgate. This required cutting off about 2†off the top of the legs of the drop down step. This allowed me to screw the rubber bumper to the outside legs without inhibiting the drop down step. Easy modification that increases the stability of the step.

I like the functionality of this. The ONLY drawback is that the push buttons for the adjustment takes two hands and sticks. You have to mess with it a bit to jiggle into place. A little frustrating when you’re in a hurry.

I used the steps quite a few times the other night, and the handle started to feel loose. The hole where the stop pin goes in had opened up, and the tube had started to collapse, due to thin Guage material used for the tube design. The steps feel unstable at times, and I'm just an average person - not heavy, and it feels like they are going to give out and break. Too bad really, because I need these.

Very good for getting in and out of the bed of my RAM 1500. It's been installed for about a year now and I am noticing a bit of rust forming in certain areas. I am afraid this will weaken the steps over time and could cause serious injury. The should have used stainless steel hardware and powder coating.

honestly this is an awesome product. I love it. Just make sure about the height on the tailgate to both tonneau and tailgate will close. Made well. The shorter screws included should be longer and the rubber bumpers will need a more sturdy washer on them but overall this is well made and works great for those of us who are vertically challenged.

I attempted installing this on a 2001 Dodge Ram. After the first 4 screws I decided to make sure there was clearance everywhere. Unfortunately there wasn't. The tailgate would not shut. Raising the step would have remedied that problem but doing so would create new problems. Raising it toward the top of the tailgate would make the bumpers not hit the tailgate lip when folded into the step position. Worst of all, the raised position would no longer allow my cover to shut against the tailgate lip. The step is well made and easy to mount. I confirmed the stated dimensions would fit my tailgate. I didn't realize it needs to be up about 1/2" from the bottom of the tailgate to allow it to close. My tailgate isn't tall enough to allow that. If only the step framework was about 1/2" shorter, it was almost exactly what I needed!

Easy install. Handle is solid. Takes up no room. A bit hard to operate push pin stops, may change to pull pin stops. Overall, great idea and great product.

Just got this st Christmas time. The step is very handy to get in and out of the truck bed. It was easy to install, doesn’t rattle and sits snug. My only concern is that the step isn’t as sturdy as I would like it to be. Perhaps with time and usage I will change my mind.

Tailgate step will not work with a tonneau cover that seals against the tailgate.

Don’t waste your money if you have a mid size pickup. No guarantees it will fit.
