This is a lightweight and compact mini matte box. (Product name: "Fotga S-light 3")In filming/movie making, matte boxes like this are commonly mounted in front of a lens to control strong lights that could cause glare. It also provides a convenient means for adding a filter(s).The main body of this particular compact matte box is made of lightweight but sturdy plastic (painted in an attractive carbon fiber-patterned matte black) combined with an aluminum alloy frame. The top flag/shield is a thin carbon fiber sheet and attaches via a smooth hinge. The whole setup feels well-made and sturdy, with smooth adjustments.  There are a few options as far as ways to attach the matte box to your lens/camera. But most likely, you will use one of the provided filter thread adapter rings to attach it to the lens' filter thread. (If you are using a cine lens featuring a 95mm OD, you can skip the adapter ring.) The adapter ring allows quick and secure attachment (as well as quick detachment) of the matte box onto the lens.In my case, I used the 67mm adapter ring (weight: 22.6g / 0.8 oz) for my Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 lens. With the adapter ring added, the total weight (without any filter) was 157.35g (5.55 oz) on my digital scale. So it is indeed very lightweight, perfect for small mirrorless video setups like mine.As far as filters, you can mount one or more circular filters onto the front of the aforementioned adapter ring, just like you normally would onto a lens.In addition (or instead), you also have an option to mount a single square (4" x 4") or rectangular (4" x 5.65") filter at the very front of the matte box, where there is a channel you can slide it into. What's nice is that it comes with 2 sets of different shims, nicely accommodating 1.8mm, 2.0mm, and 4mm thick filters. (I tested the fit using a 4.04mm thick 4"x5.65" filter and a 1.88mm thick 100mm x 100mm filter; they both fit smoothly and securely, with no looseness.)As far as the filter coverage, I found that the 4"x5.65" filter worked fine for my wide angle Viltrox 13mm APS-C lens (full frame equivalent 19.5mm) without causing any vignetting - as long as I made sure the matte box horizon was aligned properly to that of the camera.  (It should be able to go a little wider still. But your filter coverage for ultra-wide lenses will be limited, especially with a 4" x 4" filter, due to the location of the filter being farther away in front of the lens.)LIKES:- Compact and simple to set up. Easy to use and lightweight.- Can accept a wide range of filters - multiple circular filters and/or a single standard square or rectangular filter (4"x4" and 4"x5.65") of various thicknesses (4mm, 2.0mm, and 1.8mm options via shims).- Comes with a set of adapter rings (67mm, 72mm, 77mm, 82mm ), so no need to buy them separately.DISLIKES:- It can accommodate only one rectangular / square filter; no stacking options for them.- The rectangular / square filter is mounted at the very front of the matte box, away from the lens. This filter location is prone to the filter exposed to strong side lighting, resulting in a glare that may be difficult to avoid. Also, the filter coverage for wide angle lenses will be limited for the same reason. (This is an inherent design limitation of this compact-size matte box.)CONCLUSIONOverall, I really like this product, for its simple design, ease of use, and for the light weight. I really like that it effectively accommodates a range of filter thicknesses (by means of use of shims).The tradeoff for the simple, compact design is the less than optimal mounting location for the square/rectangular filters. (A design that allows filters to be located closer to the lens would make the matte box more complex and larger, and perhaps heavier.Overall, I decided to deduct 1/2 star for the less than ideal mounting location of the square/rectangular filter, giving it 4 1/2 stars. (Amazon does not accept fractional stars, so I am marking it as 4 stars.)As long as you can accept this inherent limitation / design trade-off of the rectangular/square filter mounting location, I think this is a good mini matte box that I can recommend.Lastly, I note that SmallRig has a similar mini matte box "SmallRig Mini Matte box Lite 3575", but with some differences. For one, the SmallRig design uses a filter tray, unlike this Fotga. I personally like the simpler and versatile design of this Fotga. But your needs and preferences may be different. So you might like to look at the SmallRig 3575 too for comparison shopping purposes.= = =As measured on my digital scale:- Weight of the mini matte box without an adapter ring: 134.75g (4.75 oz)- Weight of 67mm adapter ring: 22.60g (0.8 oz)- Combined weight of the mini matte box plus the adapter ring: 157.35g (5.55 oz)

This mini matte box is from FOTGA and has a carbon fiber flag with a carbon-looking box. The finish on the carbon look box was coming off out of the box and I would prefer it to just be plain black. The flag-locking screw is hard to turn and requires more force than expected to keep the flag in position. There are better options out there. The metal components are made well. This also does not include adapter rings for smaller lenses which are available separately.
