This is certainly metal, or at least a metal composite. My guess is a cast aluminum mixed with something else. So it's quite light but still sturdy. The assembly was clever, without any need for screws or tools. And the wheels are great! They track really well when putting some weight on it. I haven't been able to test it directly on the chair yet, as it's too low for my chair's current gas cylinder. Along with ordering this I also bought a low-profile gas cylinder from another warehouse/vendor on Amazon, so hopefully that will fit well.Update: it works great with my Hon Ignition Big & Tall chair and the "MySit 2.2" Stroke Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Replacement" available on Amazon. It has helped me to lower the chair by more than an inch.Also, this was shipped super fast, thank you!

I have an AutoFull gaming chair (which costed over $200). I bought my chair about 2 years ago & all was well until just recently. I was sitting at my desk when one of my front legs felt like it broke (it was loud & scared me lol). That's when I noticed a wheel popped off the base. I put it back on just for it to do it again 10 mins later. I flipped my chair over & saw that the plastic holder, meant to keep the wheel in place, had a break on one side. So..... the wheel would no longer fit like it should.I knew there was nothing I could do to fix the plastic, so I went on here to see if I could buy an upgraded chair/wheel base.This option claims to be of heavy-duty quality (& comes with dual wheels for each mount), so I went ahead & got this.The install was super easy. The hardest part was removing the old chair base from the hydraulic piece that controls the chair's height.I've now been using this replacement for a couple weeks now & I have no complaints. I hope it holds up to its "heavy-duty" advert because it is an expensive part, but at least it was cheaper than buying a whole new office chair.

Easy installation for 2-in seat posts.It took me longer to remove the old base than putting this base together and install onto the chair.5-spoke, which is much better than the 4-spoke it replaced. All polymer base

Had a chair from work where the base broke, Flexispot support sent an entire replacement chair and said to throw the bad one away in the trash. Snagged this and brought the broken chair home. This fit perfect and now I have a few month old chair. The wheels on this are the softer rubber wheels and are so quiet when I roll around. I may repair the white parts but other than that it was a perfect replacement. So glad these are available.
