Great value, price and functionality which makes oil changes easier, less messier and faster. Really have no problems with ground clearance as complained by others.

I have these on every single car I have owned for the last 40 years. Makes doing yourself oil changes fast, neat and easy. Highly recommend Fumoto but Fumoto only.

This review is specific to using the Fumoto F106N valve (M14 x 1.5 or 14mm) on a 2014-2016 Audi Q5 3.0L TDI diesel. No guarantee it will fit on other VAG or Porsche 3.0L TDI's. Just because you have a 3.0L TDI doesn't mean it will fit your vehicle -- the Q5 may have a different shape oil pan and undercarriage cover than your A6, A7, A8, Q7, Toureg, or CD.if you're reading this, then you've likely already considered the magnetic drain bolt, the Votex drain plug with screw-on cover, and the pump (to pump oil out from the dipstick hole or filter housing) already. I was trying to avoid having to remove the drain bolt every time. I also wanted to drain right into a 5qt jug. The Votex looks good but I'm a bit leary of the screw-on cover since it depends on an O-ring that's going to be subjected to thermal cycles of heat and cool from the hot oil. People have had good success with pumping out the oil from the top, but I'm old-school and believe the best way to get waste out is exactly how my body gets rid of waste...from the bottom. Your mileage may vary.Long story short, this valve fits without the need for the adapter, and the undercarriage cover goes over the valve perfectly to protect it (since it protrudes about an 1" from the oil pan.)In order for the valve to clear the oil pan as you tighten it, you will need an additional 14mm washer between the included fiber washer and the valve body. My wife drives an Acura MDX, so I had a bunch of 14mm crush washers that I used for this purpose. I recommend using a crush washer (and not a regular washer) since it can deform slightly to contour to the valve body. The included blue fiber washer is the one that makes contact with the oil pan. Then the 14mm washer goes between the fiber washer and the valve body. I did not use a torque wrench -- just common sense (don't over tighten it.) With the 14mm washer, there is just enough clearance from the oil pan as you tighten the valve such that I did not need to use the Fumoto adapter. Using the adapter would have made the valve stick out from the oil pan too much, thus the undercarriage cover would be hitting it.Do not put the crush washer against the oil pan -- put the fiber washer against the oil pan.The valve without the adapter does stick out about an inch, but there is plenty of clearance in the undercarriage cover such that it goes over the valve just fine and fastens to the underbody no problem. I was nervous whether the valve protruding from the oil pan would be a disaster in the making, but the cover protects it perfectly.Make sure you test for leaks before putting the undercarriage cover back on! Also monitor the oil level on the MMI. My install was leak-free.Lastly, there are folks who are worried that the valve (as opposed to a drain plug) will cause about 1/8" of oil to remain at the bottom of the oil pan. It's because when you screw the valve into the drain bolt hole, the valve body protrudes inside the pan. If you're OCD and need to get every last drop of used oil out, then this may not be for you. I change the oil every 5000 miles, so it's kind of a moot point for me.The Fumoto valve is pricey for what it is, but it is very well made and works as intended.

No more worries about stripped oil pans or replacement drain plugs because no need to remove this drain valve once its installed. I opted for the version with the hose nipple on it because my wifes car has a splash shield under it. So the choices are to remove the shield, clean up a big mess, or simply connect a drain hose to this valve and save time and clean up. Win, win.

I have used these engine oil drain valves on all my cars for the last 30 years. With this valve installed and a filter that is tightened by hand tight, no tools are needed to change your own oil saving you 100's.

I was hoping that this would help draining the engine oil and making oil changes easier for my car. The first oil drain with this new valve worked great without problems. But during the second oil drain I noticed leaked oil from the place where the nipple connects to the main valve body before I opened the valve to drain the oil. This explained the recent oil loss I saw from my otherwise trusty car which was quite unusual for my car. So I thought "OK, out the valve and back in the trusty factory oil drain bolt". When I tried removing this valve the nipple which has the only hex head in the whole valve body sheared right off and made a mess. Exactly what happened with the other one-star review here. I had installed the valve to the correct torque spec using a torque wrench. So I really don't know what caused the nipple with the hex head to shear off like that. Not cool and won't be using this again!

I love these things. If you do your own oil changes you owe it to yourself to buy one of these. It takes a minute longer to drain than the normal way but you don't have to mess around with the plug and you can put a hose on it to drain your oil right into the pan without any mess. Easy to install and use.

Be aware it will not allow all the oil to drain out. I opened the valve to drain my oil and waited till it was coming out in drops, then I removed the device by unscrewing it from the drain hole and to my surprise more oil flowed out steadily, approx 0.5 Ltrs. So you need to weigh up the pros and cons of this.

Well worth the money for a mess-free oil change. 3 months in and no leakage so far. There’s a fair amount of space between the valve and the bottom engine shield.
