This double bell is *gorgeous* and has two clear, strong, beautifully-pitched tones! An absolutely amazing find for an unbeatable price. Mine came with a wooden handle which makes it a lot easier and more comfortable to hold, since the bells are obviously hand-forged and fairly heavy (especially compared to the lightweight commercial-grade kind of cowbell you generally see). The wooden handle is signed by the carver! Show me anywhere else you can get such a cool thing! The hand-carved wooden beater is another great touch. I look forward to using this a lot. Amazing! I couldn't recommend this more highly, from all aesthetic viewpoints.

Very small sounds like toy. Costs$12.50 to return so SKIP this one if you need it to sound like a real gankogui.

This came with a small certificate from an authorized reseller of artisan instruments from around the word, and let's you know that your money is going to them, not some big company, which was a really nice surprise to hear. This is definitely an authentic Gankogui, pretty well made, fully iron, and heavy. The stick looks like it was even hand-whittled, and was a nice touch. The larger bell was VERY loud and clear with a good tone. The smaller bell didn't ring quite like I thought it should, but has a sweet spot where you can get the sound you want. Good purchase for the price.

The wooden handle is nice and the larger bell sounds fantastic. Being handcrafted I was expecting a beautiful quality instrument. However, the smaller bell does not sound good at all. It sounds more like a “donk†than a “digâ€. The tone of the small bell does not complement the tone of the larger bell at all. Purchased for a birthday gift but the sound is so off I can not gift this away. I will be returning. Disappointed.
