I used this to mount my weather station to my roof crest. The instructions aren't well written, but they're clear enough. The hardware was adequate and easy to work with. I pre-drilled holes and easily mounted the unit.My weather station is very lightweight, and I placed this mount atop an aluminum runner and I expect it will be secure. If I had to mount something heavier (like an actual weather vane), the runner may not be enough- and I may have needed longer screws to tie into the roof truss. As with anything like this, I'd recommend you use your best judgement and caution.

Setting up the weather vane with the base was easy. The quality is good, and it’s simple to attach. It’s adjustable, so you can use it with almost any size weather vane or sign. Made of aluminum, it has a nice flat black finish and offers great value.

This mount was easy to install and seems quite solid. My only problem was that the rod of the vane I was using was quite a bit smaller than the opening. I found a piece of square welding rod that fit nicely and held the vane securely, so all was good.
