Great for determining the source of engine noise. I used it to test my belt pillows.

I purchased this since I was getting clicking noise from the valve cover. I wanted to narrow down what was the issue. After I used this tool I could hear the noise was coming from the defective new after market pcv valve. It works for the purpose but I wish the ear guard was a little more softer to make it comfortable.

This stethoscope was great. Put it on every bearing I could while it was running. They all sounded smooth. Put on alternator and think it sounded normal. It wasn’t the sound I heard. Put it on the plastic cover of the alternator (doesn’t do anything except keep the connection dry and exhaust the heat). That was the sound I was hearing. It’s vibrating somewhere but can’t really do anything unless I take out the whole alternator and it’s not worth the time for a slight hum I’ve been hearing and only hear it on idle. Will worry about it when I ever have to change the alternator. So it was definitely worth the price and then some for the ease of mind and will come in handy diagnosing future issues.

You guys. Idk how I came across this but I have been blessed with wisdom of the ancestors. This mf can hear water drops through walls, my brother in Christ I said through WALLS. Just boop this lil guy onto a WALL and you can estimate where water is running. I used it to be able to figure out a ticking sound in my engine and it’s wild. I cannot believe for $6 I was able to pin point EXACTLY what was making noise, this is after replacing a part unnecessarily. The quality and value for $6 is unmatched. I tell every person I meet about this thing. It can hurt your ears if you’re not careful with the tip, if it hits something it’s going to be louddd. Just get it and you’ll see what I mean.

You can literally hear everything on each part you touch with probe, had ticking noise i thought was the water pump or lifter tick, it actually was the idler pulley this thing is great at diagnosis sounds on engine

I mean, it works. It feels super cheaply made though, and I don't expect the rubber to last for long. It feels like the stuff that hardens and gets brittle over time. I'm a shadetree mech, i fix my own stuff, so I doubt I'll need this again before it disintegrates. 3 stars because it feels cheaper than it should, but it did work and do what I needed it too.
