UPDATE July 9, 2024(About a month after installing it)Today, the “Gas Cap†warning appeared. I didn’t even know such warning existed on my 2006 RAM1500. I removed it and reinstalled it. It didn’t help. I know that I could’ve disconnected the battery for 20 min and then tried again, but since I had saved the original gas cap, I reinstalled it. Then disconnected the battery. So I’ll have to wait and see what happens, and if I get another warning like this I’ll just bite the bullet and order a Mopar replacement. I’m returning this one.======* Original reviewAfter 200+ thousand miles, the original fuel cap on my 2006 RAM1500 Hemi was overdue to be replaced.This replacement cap is a direct fit, inexpensive, and looks fantastic.To swap it, all you have to do is un-clip the retainer from the gas cap hinge, and press in the new one. It’s a tight fit, so you may have to use a blade to carefully cut the original clip. I used a pair or automotive retainer removal pliers.If your check-engine light is on, disconnect the negative battery cable (never the positive) with a 10mm wrench, while you remove the old cap and install the new one. This will reset the computer.If the check-engine comes back on after a few days, any mechanic with a scanner will tell you the codes or you can do it yourself (there are plenty of videos on how to do this).BTW, this is also an excellent opportunity to replace the old (and probably corroded) battery terminals, which is super easy to do.Thank you for reading, and good luck with your project! 😊ðŸ‘ðŸ»

This cap was a great fit for my car and the installation was a breeze. It seems to be durable and the quality seems the same as the brand name. However, the cap replacement didn’t make my check engine light go off. The cost was very reasonable.

Fit my 2006 Honda Civic and worked well! My car kept alerting that my gas cap was off even when it was turned over three clicks tight, but replacing it fixed that problem for me!

Fit my 2007 Dodge Charger! Got rid of the annoying evap code these cars are known for when the gas cap goes bad. It was super cheap and easy to install—literally just a twist and done, I didn't even have to Google it.If you're dealing with that code try this before taking your car to the mechanic to clear that check engine light.Important tip! It may take driving g your car several days after installation for the engine light to go away.

I needed two hands or a wrench to twist this into place to hear the click (required to seal the opening and per instructions on the cap). If anybody else fills the tank, they wouldn’t know to press and turn hard to close the gas tank securely, leaving the cap loose and presenting a real safety risk. This is a classic example of the non-OEM manufacturer measuring off some outside dimensions to make the product look good but not understanding the nuances of the internal locking mechanism so it actually works.I was aware that this was aftermarket, but I thought, “how hard can it be to manufacture a gas cap?â€.I have now found another listing on Amazon for an OEM part but you have to click into the reviews and into the list of suppliers to determine that non-dealers are selling knockoffs as “OEM†even on that listing. I selected a BMW dealer in California hoping I’ll get the right part.Ideally, I would go to my local dealer, but their parts department isn’t open when I have time to work on my car.Amazon should delist this item, or at least notify people it may not work for some or all BMW models. Mine is a 2015 x328i wagon.
