It was easy to weld but watch your heat. You will blow a hole though the exhaust it is very thin sheet metal.

Although this is what I was looking for…the manufacturer does not tell you or show you how this adapter piece must be welded to your thinly made muffler. I would not have bought this if I knew this. Shame on them for not disclosing this information!!

I am not sure this is the fault of GenExhaust as I assume they purchased clamps from someone else. A 1-1/8" clamp is required with the pipe sent. I received a 1-1/4" clamp that was _stamped_ as 1-1/8". I needed a second clamp to complete my system and ordered a second pair of 1-1/8" clamps from another vendor. Upon receiving them, I was surprised to see they were noticeably smaller than the 1-1/8" clamps from GenExhaust. Measured with calipers and the clamp I received with the GenExhaust kit was incorrectly stamped as 1-1/8" when it is actually 1-1/4". Glad I noticed. An oversized clamp can leak and a leak can KILL you. Be aware.With that aside, the fitting is high quality, welded easily to the muffler, and I'm also pleased with the quality of the flex pipe.

The adapter incorporates a non standard weld joint design, which requires welding onto thin sheet metal and also makes for a thin weld on the adapter side of the weld (see attached drawings). A standard weld joint design would allow sufficient weld thickness and much better strength. This is not just IMO; there is no nationally recognized welding standard that recognizes the weld joint design provided by GenExhaust.I used it as it came because I have access to a welder with an unusually high degree of craftsmanship. But a standard weld joint design would be much more robust, and would have gotten 5 stars.Before welding I'd measured the exhaust temperature and got nothing higher than about 220 degrees F. We installed a Honda eu2200 in the Toyota motor home and used this to run the exhaust for the generator cubbie and it worked like it should !
