Your cart is empty. This Barometer arrives empty and you must use the included filling kit to fill it with the colored liquid of your choice. We suggest distilled water and traditional food coloring. The filling kit comprises of a hose, syringe and illustrated instruction sheet.
This device predicts barometric weather changes by observing the rise and fall of liquid within a sealed glass sphere. A low water level in the spout suggests “high pressure”, representing fair weather. A high water level in the spout suggests “low pressure” and forecasts poor weather conditions. While the storm glass will not indicate exact barometric pressure in numerical values, it is still regarded as an accurate monitor of air pressure changes.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) was a German writer and politician whose work influenced the likes of Nietzsche, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms to name a few. Goethe was also keenly involved in studies of natural science and color theory. He developed and popularized his simple but effective “Weather Ball Barometer“ using principles developed by Torricelli.

I LOVE this Swan. When it arrived, I was frighten opening the box. I thought, for sure, it was going to be broken. It was in perfect shape. I followed the instructions and I was able to fill my Swan right away. It works!!! I placed my Swan on a pretty plate, follow instructions, and it looks so pretty, and it really works. I’m very happy with my purchase.â¤ï¸

Barometers are great fun. Watching the water level rise and fall to predict the weather. They are surprisingly accurate according to my observation. They are even more fun when in lovely shapes. Like this one shaped like a delicate swan. We had fun mixing colors to come up with one she really liked to fill it with. It looks nice on her mantle. It arrived timely and was super well packaged.

There's a trick to filling this tricky-to-fill barometer - put the hose in the refrigerator, first!It makes the pesky little hose much more rigid and it goes right in!(We put it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes)Also, be sure to fill it to above the neck for it to work properly. These water barometers are amazingly accurate!

Fun novelty item. Can be a touch tricky to initially fill but if you straighten the tube as much as possible it will fill easily. It behaves exactly as expected accurately predicting weather changes....never fails, just wish it could predict what changes :-) We have a lot of fun guessing what's coming now that tells us "something" is changing.

Very difficult to fill with water. Once I got past that, the water level has not moved through 2 storms. I bought 3. ( 1 for myself, and 1 for each of my 2 brothers). I thought it would be a great blast from the past for us, as we had a similar one when we were kids. I was so dissappointed in mine that I have not even given them theirs. I would not recommend buying.

I purchased this for my parents. They love to keep up with the weather and especially the pressure for their aches and pains. The directions seemed easy enough when I read them. My next visit I am going to set this up for them as they can’t seem to figure it out. So maybe a little confusing for elderly. They love the concept.
