I bought two of these along with a GM Climbing double rescue pulley. I am not using them for climbing, I purchased them to use to create a mechanical advantage for the winch on my ATV and other applications. I understand that it is not designed for this and will of course take necessary precautions. I have some snatch blocks for my synthetic winch rope, but they will not fit more than 1/4" rope, and the winch rope is only 50'. I have an old 150' rappelling rope that is in excellent condition, although I don't think that rappelling with it is a good idea due to its age. I have tested the mechanical advantage using these pulleys and pulling my ATV by hand up a slight incline and everything works as expected (according to a video on YouTube I am getting a 9:1 mechanical advantage using 4 pulleys). The 12mm rappelling rope runs freely and smoothly through these pulleys and they seem to be very well made. Based on the rated specs, the rope should break before the pulleys. I have a similar brand name micro pulley that I bought about 20 years ago at a climbing specialty retailer for more than $50, and the GM Climbing pulley appears to be of equal or better quality. Would I trust my life to this pulley in a climbing/rescue scenario? Based on what I have seen so far, I would have to say yes. We'll see how well they hold up for my application. For the price I won't cry if I break one and have to replace it.

I'm using these as part of a block and tackle for an adjustable angle home wall. They're nice pulleys and work well for what I'm doing. If you're unfamiliar with this or any other newer climbing gear brand, I suggest going directly to the UIAA website to confirm that they are legit. I've done this with these pulleys and with other GM products and everything seems above board.

The GM Climbing equipment we have purchased is extremely well made and seems every bit as good as the more expensive brands. We use it for cave exploration, lowering gear down. This little pulley is small and easy to carry, as well as quick to deploy. Does its job very well indeed and the price can't be beat.

These are really well made at an affordable price. I got two of their 20kN pulleys and their rigging plate as well, all excellent stuff. I only have 8mm rope and these work perfectly with that size. The way the brass bearings are made keeps the roller centered and they don't get pinched if you squeeze the sides, very important. Very compact as well. These are not your average hardware store pulleys which I would never trust my life with.Shipping was fast. All in all a very good product, I'm a happy camper.
