Made a nice topper for our new horse barn. Really stands out. Looks like a shiny new penny atop the barn. Hope the shiny luster lasts at least till we complete construction. It works just how it is supposed to.

I purchased a the smaller one originally and it didnt look like it was going to fit so I returned it and it looks great. Solid construction but it could use a different set screw. The brass ones break easily. Very happy with my purchase though.

Many Vine participants write reviews right away, and you (the customer) don't see how things hold up over time. I set this up on a pole, as we have a very tall home and we have very high winds in Santa Ana season (I'm in Southern California). It has seen the weather now for a few months, and I'm surprised at how it has aged (not in a good way).First out of the box, this vane looks just like the photos. Bright and shiny--it's beautiful. The piece is rather lightweight, and has sharp edges. It actually feels flimsy to me. A friend of mine's family owns a store in the south, and they carry these sorts of things--he said it was lighter than those they sold, and lighter than anything he'd seen before.Set up was simple on a pole. At first it was a shining star in the garden. When it got really windy, we just took it down to protect it.But then, the heat of the summer, the dry air, and who knows what other environmental factors ate away at the finish. The expected greenish patina was nothing more than a brown oxidation. It doesn't have that "special" look any more.I had hoped it would patina over time, but it never has. Even with the rains we had awhile ago, nothing improved. It's dark brown and has a matte finish. If I had spent $200-$300 on this, I'd be pretty disappointed. It's not bad, but not what I expected.

Buy the roof mount, makes it much easier. Many many compliments on my new barn and weathervane!
