This is an excellent unit for the money. It is very sturdy with a solid frame and hose reel assembly that can be floor, wall, or ceiling mounted. I used 3/8"x 1-1/2" lag screws and washers to secure it to the bottom of a shelf (with 2x4's) just above my compressor. Leave about a two inch gap between the edge of the reel and the floor/wall/ceiling when you mount it to give the hose a little extra room. From reading the instructions, I thought I would have to do a lot of setup and adjustments to get the unit working properly. Not So! Once I had the unit mounted and connected to the compressor it worked flawlessly from the get-go with no adjustments necessary. The spring return tension was set at the factory and worked perfectly the first time I tried it.One thing that is a little tricky is the connection of the hose between the reel and your compressor. The unit ships with a 50' hose installed on the reel, but DOES NOT ship with the interconnect hose, so you will have to provide your own. I ordered the matching 3' Goodyear hose because my compressor was close to the reel. You may need a longer hose if it's farther away. The reason I say it is tricky has to do more with physics than the equipment itself. When you screw the hose into either the compressor end or the reel connector it's no problem, HOWEVER, now you have to screw the other end of the hose to the other device. As you start turning the hose in, it starts to twist it tighter and tighter into a knot until you have an unworkable mass of rubber hose. Not good. There are probably fittings available that allow the hose to be tightened without twisting, but there is another way. Simply pre-twist the hose 3 to 4 times counter to the direction you will be screwing it in. This way, as you tighten the hose fitting it is unwinding the twists you put in the hose beforehand. It may take a couple attempts but ultimately you should be able to get both ends of the hose attached without twists. As for the reel, the main hose unrolls easily without binding or twisting, with the guide rollers keeping it properly aligned. The guide rollers allow you to pull the hose out at any angle up to 90 degrees on either side. It is a little tricky to get used to latching the hose while extending it. There are three "clicks" every half-revolution or so that you need to time so that you stop pulling right after the first or second click, otherwise, if you go too far past the third click it won't latch and you'll have to go another half-turn and try again. It's pretty easy after a little practice. To release the hose and let the unit wind it back in, simply give it a little downward tug and let it start pulling it in. It's a good idea not to let the hose go flying back in at high speed, rather, slow it down a bit with your hand as it retracts.I haven't had the unit installed very long, but I did drag out all 50' of hose tonight to blast out every smoke detector in the house. This was easily accomplished with the reel holding the hose fully extended while I did my work. Afterwards, with just a little tug and some guidance, the hose easily rewound itself neatly back on the reel. NICE!If things change I'll update this review, but right now I'm quite happy with my purchase.

I bought both the air hose and electrical cord reel. The provided mounting hardware isn’t as good as these reels are. I was terrible about leaving cords and air lines laying around before these. They are both heavy duty reels and work perfect. They are expensive, but they are nice. Highly recommend getting both.

This seems like a decent reel and works well. The hose it came with is total garbage and wouldn’t make it thru a summer in my Arizona garage, so I purchased a 3/8” Goodyear hose and put on it made in America. Good American made reels would be Reelcraft or CoxReels but I don’t use one enough to justify the price. This mounted right in place where I had a Northern Tools Klutch Reel mounted. I didn’t even have to drill as it was a perfect fit.

Like the quality build and sturdy mount bracket. I had to disassemble my mount bracket from the hose reel to get to the mounting holes so they need to redesign the mounting bracket so you can have a two piece bracket and mount the first one easily and then mount the hose reel bracket to that bracket. The hose reel is spring loaded so once you disassemble the bracket you have to hold the reel in place with some method (I used a pipe wedged to hold the reel in place) Works great though.

A little tricky to hang as you need to either take it apart to screw the base to the wall or use a wrench to tighten the bolts. The unit is very heavy duty with a high quality hose. Definitely worth the value.

Love this hose reel. Had one in the shop I grew up in. I was always hanging off the thing and whipping it on things. The Goodyear logo is just nostalgic to me. Be aware mounting is kindof a pain. The instructions aren’t too clear. You have to disassemble the reel from the mounting bracket which takes a 15/16” wrench and a 7/8” wrench on the other side. It comes right apart.

I gave this hose to two people who are all-round fix-it and maintain-it people, and you would have thought I gave them a million bucks! This, they say, is what a REAL Retractable Hose is all about. I imagine any homeowner/shop owner would appreciate it.

As a simple home user, I almost bought a cheap plastic hose reel but seeing this one for only about $50 more, I decided to splurge just a bit. I'm so glad I did. This is a bold, heavy-duty product that I'm sure will last for a very long time. It has a good quality hose rubber, a strong spring mechanism (I'm still getting the hang of convincing it to latch reliably - perhaps it's just me). 4 lag bolts are included (although I found it easier to replace 2 of them with hanger bolts - it's a bit tight getting a wrench into the bolts.) A 6 foot hose is included to connect the reel to the compressor, and a quick-connect fitting as well.As for the pros and cons, starting with the pros:- Sturdy, strong heavy-gauge steel frame and reel.- High quality rubber hose.- Good spring-back force on the reel.- Haven't detected any leaks - good smooth operations.- Bright blue paint and Goodyear logo look great.Cons (both are minor):- The spring lock seems a bit harder to get to engage than other reels I've used.- Instructions are a bit unclear as to whether removing the reel from the bracket (to ease in mounting) will cause the spring to unwind or cause any other calamities. Chose not to risk it.Overall, I'm entirely happy with this purchase and recommend the product.

fantastic product, works as it should, no leaks but note it is made in china with no serial/model badge. goodyear logo rubbed smeared while fitting so it just wipped away? online reviews do state made in china but with hose marked as made in usa, this hose also does not have a usa mark so all chinese. i use it daily and have no problems with it. was discounted to €100. well worth it. its solid. i recommend it.
