It says that they are pre-gesso'd but the fabric grain is still pretty deep. I personally like the detail so it's no big deal. I do find it interesting how some of them are individually wrapped with plastic and some aren't. But I'd still recommend them

I loved the different sizes that came with this set. They are good quality, sturdy and a really great price. I would recommend and buy again also.
