I grew up in the golden age of radio. Everyone listened to radio, TV hadn't replaced it. I knew what a good radio was. As a kid I designed and built my own dirt-simple radios -- crystal sets, superregens -- but even those I did exceptionally well. Commercial radio design didn't require 21st century technology, it required taking pride in the radio engineering craft. They made 'em pretty because the outward appearance should be consistent with the performance. Most modern radios other than the $10 pocket Sony knockoffs are loaded with "features" designed by engineers who as far as I can tell grew up on TV and video games and never actually listened to a radio themselves.Ten years ago I paid nearly $200 for a simple table model AM-FM radio designed and made in the USA for people who wanted a good radio and remembered what one was. The guts were modern, no vacuum tubes, but they used the technology right. They even got the acoustical engineering right, the 3 inch speaker had good range and low distortion. Soooo easy to tune, it used a real air dielectric variable capacitor. Unfortunately due to some difficult life circumstances, I had to get rid of it.  Several days ago I spotted this on Amazon, and read the reviews including by electrical engineers and old folks who remember what a good radio is.  Folks, this thing is a work of art both interior and exterior. Somewhere there's an engineer who remembers how to get it right. THANK YOU!. Even the box it's shipped in is nice. I don't know how they did this for $21 delivered to my front door.******Battery life? I'm a stickler for battery life. In my own designs I count every microampere. Haven't had this one long enough to know how long batteries will last. I'm not expecting to get the "almost forever" battery life I get from my $10 all-analog Sony. It's got a 57 mm (2 1/4") speaker. They couldn't have gotten a larger one in there. But..... the enclosure works against it. Most pocket radios there is zero acoustical engineering, they don't know how and don't care anyhow. This one I'm sure they cared, I think they tried to boost the low end by getting just the right amount of acoustical impedance in the vent in the rear. But, with that acoustical volume to work with, you can't get loud AND good fidelity. It's a compromise. ..... This unit is good by comparison with other pocket radios. If you want better fidelity, the headphone jack can probably supply that.

Pair this with a good set of on- or over-ear headphones for a full day of listening on a full charge. Good audio quality in all three modes. Adequate sensitivity and selectivity for urban FM. Tendency to overload can be minimized by leaving the antenna retracted.Pay attention to the vendor’s instruction for resetting the receiver; you will need it when the receiver gets left on for too long. (This can happen if the power button gets bumped, for example by other gear in a shared bag.)Kudos for the USB-C charge port.

As a long-time radio broadcaster, I enjoy tuning around both AM & FM bands to see what local content still remains. The digital tuner on this unit is quite good and AM reception works better than most current radios (most spend less on the AM side than was done years ago).FM is very good sounding, deserving of a good set of headphones.MP3 player is a nice addition.MUCH better unit that new knob tuner radios. However there is no speaker, if that is what you want.

I was all set to adore this little radio! I got a special charger, just in case my regular USBs didn't work. Well, the special charger didn't work (although it lit up helpfully with a little blue light), but the radio did nothing. I tried a regular USB charger block--ditto. It's now plugged into my desk lamp USB charger, and I'll set a 2 hour timer. So far, the little radio shows NO signs of life. Looks to be a return. LATER: BUT WAIT! It's charging! This bodes well. UPDATE: I just tried to register my product for the warranty, so I scanted the little QR code. The form there was not a product website, but asked for lots of information that I have no intention of divulging. I tried emailing the address that was included with my radio, but the MAILER DAEMON just returned it with an email 404--there is no such address. So much for the "If you have any questions or need help, just email us and we will solve your problem immediately." note on the little card. Caveat emptor.

I bought this radio as a present, I wanted a retro look, simple to use and battery operated. It’s for an older person so he can use it easily. It ticks all these boxes. I just had an email from the sellers of this radio as it seems some people have had signal issues so they are contacting all their customers. They were offering a years warranty or 30 day money back guarantee. As this is a present I was about to give I tested it to make sure it’s ok. It seems to tune and pick up signal very well. It’s really cute and the sound for such a small radio is good. I liked the way it lit up and the retro style. I think it’s really good value for money. It’s also reassuring that the sellers made an effort to ensure their customers are happy with the products. I would buy from them again.

I was looking for a little radio mostly to receive AM frequencies, it's surprising how many radios or apps like TuneIn don't have AM these days. This thing does the job well enough, looks quite nice (we all have our tastes!) and generally does what I want it to do.The only minor issue I've experienced is that when you turn it on, sometimes it doesn't actually come on. A bit odd, but happened 2 or 3 times.Would recommend it, but if you don't fancy it I wouldn't necessarily try to change your mind. Decent enough value, and I'm pleased with it.

Order for my Dad and he loves it. Cute looking retro pocket radio. He loves that the dial lights up when you turn it on.Very fast delivery, even when we were expecting a delay in the delivery due to the current pandemic.Sound is not the best (as you would expect with such a little radio) but is good when you use your own headphones.I would recommend if this is something that you are L9Y2E2 looking for.

This is a great radio. Good speaker, adequate volume and picks up all the main stations. Iread some negative reviews about interference on the VHS waveband. That happened to me as well sp I moved it away from my computer screen and the hissing stopped. All in all it is a good radio and appears to be well made.
