I decided to try these grill tongs because I wanted extra reach when grilling on a large family barbecue. They seemed perfect for keeping my hands safe from the heat, especially when managing a hearty portion of meat over hot coals.Pros & Cons:Having used them a few times now, I'm quite pleased with my purchase. The length gives me flexibility around a big BBQ without putting my arm in harm's way. The locking mechanism is smooth and simple, making it convenient to store in my kitchen drawer or hang on a hook.On the flip side, there were a couple of surprises. Their considerable length makes them a bit awkward to store in a cramped, everyday kitchen drawer. Additionally, while marketed as having wood handles, they feel sturdier and smoother than typical wood, leading me to question if there's some strong plastic involved. Yet, this doesn't detract from their usability.Here's what stood out:- Pros: - 17-inch length offers safe reach over large grills - Easy-to-use lock mechanism for convenient storage- Cons: - Long size may pose a storage challenge in small spaces - Handles feel more like strong plastic than wood despite branding

I love these tongs when I'm outside grilling. They are nice and long, and deliver a satisfying "clickity clack" when I test them, every time before using them.

I am short and am always trying to reach for items on a shelf just a little higher than I can get to. I was hoping these tongs could be used for grilling outside, cooking inside and for reaching things on high shelves. These are great and they do all that I wanted.The tong blades are made of metal so they are strong. You aren’t going to drop your steak if you pick it up with these. The ends are reliable enough to grip things securely. And since this is metal, they won’t melt by being exposed to heat.Another thing I like is that by pulling the end out, the tongs close and stay closed until you want to use them again. These are long so you can reach over your grill without burning your hand (I’d still use a heat-resistant glove, though). This is a genuinely helpful tool and I’ll use it a lot.

I used these tongs literally as soon as I recieved them. It is amazing the length of these tongs. Great for bbq's, over the stove, and flat grills. It makes it easy to deal with food without getting liquids splashed onto your hands and arms. Pan searing, and deep frying is now easy to deal with. The wooden handle assures a great grip. The metal is strong and firm, this will certainly last years of use. Very easy to wash clean and store away. The tongs have a small lock at the end which locks them closed when not in use and also use it for opening them. These tongs are now my new best friend in the kitchen and I find ways to use them all the time. I highly recommend these tongs for their strength, great grip, length, and ease of use. I simply love them, 5 stars!

I do a lot of BBQ and smoking and own many tongs. These are the longest that I have. The main reason I do not have tongs this long is stability. Most tongs over 12 inches seem to lose their ability to grip items that are heavy or the tongs slide sideways on you. This item is better than most I've seen. Good feel. Strong spring. Handle has wood grips, with indents for the fingers, but they are smooth, so if they get greasy, you'll lose some grip. Lastly, there is a little bit of play, side-to-side, at the tip of the tongs. This play stems from the gap between the two pieces at the hinge. If the fit was a little tighter, I think that would prevent the side-to-side movement and increase stability and grip when flipping steaks or heavy items.

Not much to write about, but these tongs do work and are longer which is surprisingly really nice to have when dealing with a very hot cooking surface such as a grill. Feel a little light and little cheap but there is certainly nothing wrong with these and happy to have them in my cooking/grilling arsenal.

I had no idea how bad my old tongs were until I got my hands on these – and now I’m never going back. The 17-inch length is perfect for keeping my hands away from the heat, whether I’m grilling, flipping something in the oven, or reaching deep into a pan. There’s a pin on top that locks them tightly closed for easy storage, and they also open and shut smoothly. I appreciate the subtle grip on the upper edge, which provides extra control, and despite its metal construction, they’re gentle on my pots and pans. Solid, well-made, and just a pleasure to use – exactly what I needed!

These are a little flimsy and don't seem to be sturdy enough for grilling. They are not as heavy as I would expect for tongs being marketed for BBQ. These would work better for regular cooking.
