Drill Press-G7943

Benchtop Drill Presses

These portable drill presses are not lacking power or essential options, and come in sizes up to 34” with ½ HP. These machines offer either 5 or 10 spindle speeds or are variable speed for easy adjustment as you work.

These presses have a maximum drilling capacity through cast iron or mild steel of up to ½", with effortless drilling through fiberglass, plastic and composites. Other features include a precision-ground cast-iron table and an adjustable depth stop for repeatable drilling.

Floor Drill Presses

For a high-producing workhorse drill press for your shop, select from 14”, 15”, 17”, or 20” models that each feature precision-ground cast-iron tables. These machines come with 12 speeds and powerful 3/4 - 1-½ HP motors.

Feature highlights for this machine type include crank handle-operated rack-and-pinion vertical table movement, built-in lights, and coolant troughs and lock levers on the table. Some models offer large spindle travel up to 4-¾" for deeper drilling and greater versatility.

Radial Drill Presses

These versatile drill presses are ready for work with ½-1 HP motors that smoothly power up to 12 spindle speeds. These sturdy machines can drill through up to 1-½" steel without bogging down – impressive results for any drill press! The radial design allows you drill at various angles and extend and retract the arm as needed depending on your workpiece specifications.

These high-capacity machines provide 360-degree head swivel for maximum adjustability, and swing between 34” and 45”.

Heavy-Duty Drill Presses

Hardcore drill presses for the most demanding industrial uses including drilling, tapping, and milling. Heavy-duty drill presses are both powerful and multi-functional, with 1-½ - 2 HP motors and variable and multiple speed options.

These feature-packed machines include options such as vertical and longitudinal power feeds, variable-frequency drive, and power tapping capability. And for more impact, built-in coolant systems on some models keep your metal cool and your drilling precise.

Great drill press. Easy assembly, low noise and almost zero vibration. Set screw for collar ring was missing but they sent me one within a week. This is a heavy unit so it must be very well mounted ( I used two 4 x 4 3/4 inch MDF mounted to the pallet the unit was delivered on ). Also used with sanding drum with no issues at all. Worm gear for the table is a little sloppy ( side to side movement ) but this has not been an operational issue. Threaded post and hub style depth stop included on unit. This is a great deal for the money.

Tons of spindle wobble. I upgraded the spindle and that helped, but it's still pretty bad.

As a professional woodworker moving to a new location, I was looking to save some money on a few tools when setting up my new shop. I purchased this drill press becasue the price was far cheaper than any other model with comparable features. Right out of the box the drill press had the typical flaws characteristic of most grizzly tools - pock-marked steel, imperfect threadings, loose pulleys, etc...I was expecting most of these defects so I overlooked them and set the press up in my shop. After two years of use I can say that the drill press does drill holes but it is a highly inaccurate machine that is not a joy to use. The table is tough to adjust with accuracy, the 1/2 inch chuck frequently sticks and has a slight wobble, and the belts and pulleys are very hard to adjust for proper speed on the machine. Recently, the handles on the press have stripped and come loose.I could go on and on with all the minor querks and defects of this machine but I will just say that if you a weekend handyman looking to drill a few holes now and then then this machine will do fine. If you, however, are looking for a serious tool that will help you raise your woodworking skills to the next level, spend the extra money now and get a JET, DELTA, or POWERMATIC. You will be happy you did.

I got this drill press about a year ago and have finally had the time to put it through its paces. It's mostly decent and runs nicely enough.  The motor and belt drive are nice, the quill feeds nicely, and the chuck is decent. Drilling wood was a breeze. Drilling 3/8" clearance holes in mild steel was smooth sailing. Spot drilling with a 140 degree spot drill in such steel, however, was too much force for the machine's rigidity. I got lots of chatter doing that and ought to pick up a 120 degree spot drill. The fine details in fit and finish are what cost the stars here - there is a lot of economizing in the castings that impact function. The holes in the base are smooth bores. This means you are going to be miserable trying to level the machine on a slab with aftermarket leveling feet - with the machine standing, there's no way to hold the nuts that determine level, because they are hidden underneath the skirt of the base. If I were so equipped, I'd weld drilled and tapped blocks into the base, but I'm not - this drill press is about the fanciest metalworking equipment I have. Tapped holes from the factory would have been so much nicer. Even worse has been the table. It pretends to have 5/8" t-slots - the inside of the slots is just painted rough casting. So what the t-slots have to ride on is extremely uneven and mostly very thin. In my case, one of the four slots will need grinding before I can even sneak a t-nut into the slot past a lump in the casting. I bought an expensive t-slot fixturing clamp set, and the t-slot nuts sit proud of the table - so I can't even do as much as mount a basic drill press vise onto the table with the t-slots provided. I have to C-clamp the vise onto the table, which feels bush league. At some point when I can sneak into a machine shop (or if meet a good local machinist and am feeling spendy), I'll make some low-profile t-slot nuts so I can use that fixturing stuff without so many problems. What a hassle!

I would have given 5 stars but I was missing the worm gear to adjust the table when it arrived. A quick call to customer service and that had the part out to me in 3 days. For the price you can't beat this drill press. A solid smooth running machine with plenty of power to get the job done. The added light is a blessing and I love the Delta/Jet type depth stop.

A very smooth and powerful drill press that found many other uses in my shop. It takes everything I throw at it and keeps on humming along. I am not crazy about the use of belts for speed changes but it is a necessary evil and a small price to pay. The machine is heavy but can be moved and setup by one person.

Not bad for the price.
