when I need to ensure my work is flat, this is the tool.if I need to file as smooth as possible this the fileI am going to make sure I am not damaging this file, so I won't be able to tell you if it is a tough file except for the fact that the cutting edges are smaller than a tardigrade.because of that I would not use it to remove stock. Grobet has other files for that.By the way, I find it difficult to know whether the Gorbet file I am shown is from Switzerland proper or it is a Grobet USA file. Mine advertised that it was from Italy but never said it was a Grobet USA. Its kind of like China where finding the truth is a bit murky.the bottom line is this file is exceptional.

I use my Grobets in my luthier shop and have used some of them for more than 40 years and they are still good. Take care of them and the may last a lifetime with proper use.

No complaints with this high quality file. I must say I was surprised/impressed at how fine the cut6 grade is, truly amazingly fine.
