Used this kit to install grommets on a college team window flag so I could use it on a lighted whip for a RZR. Simple to use, the grommets are solid and worked well for the flag and the price was great. The flag material was quite thick and double layered so the hole punch didn’t work too well for that so i used scissors to cut the material. Watch the video on the product page and it really is that simple to use.

This is a good starter punch/grommet set. Wish they came with a few more grommets, but I can get those pretty easily.You have to really whack at the material with the punch, but it does work. After you get the hole thru the material, then the grommet goes on without any issue. I have not had any problems with the grommets I have put on so far.If you just need a once in a while tool to punch holes and put in grommets, this is a good buy. I have a rooftop tent and some camping stuff that I need it for, so it's infrequent use, but works well enough.

As others have stated, the puncher is not sharp enough. I found it impossible to punch a hole if i set everything on a hard surface. However, I then set it down on a thin carpet on the floor of my garage and was able to whack it hard enough for the punch to cut through. Unless you hit it hard enough to embed in the wood, it's not going to cut through synthetic fabric. Placing it on a softer surface allowed some give and to drive the punch in. The back side of the grommets are kind of thin, and when you hit hard for the top half to fasten itself to the back side, the back side goes concave, which does not look great. For the second grommet i didn't hit it as hard but you have to balance that against making sure the grommet bends to the point of fastening. I wouldn't use this for a heavy duty purpose, but for my purpose (making a grommet hole in a college garden flag) it's more than adequate and I wouldn't want to pay any more.

Liked this product very much. Was easy to use for the first time user. Remember that the grommet stem is on the finish side, or up side. Didn't realize, or pay attention. Had to remove the first one and re-do. I used a wood block to set grommet the first time. It worked fine, but required many hammer hits to finally set. However, when I removed it and put the grommet stem on the proper side, I set everything on the concrete floor and it set extremely easy with 2 hits with hammer and you could hear and feel that it was set. Much better procedure! Recommend this product!

this item with the tools was priced well but the threaded male inserts would not thread into the handle. I tried many times but kept cross threading. I achieved the job with a little improvising.

As with other reviews, whilst the product is well presented there is a basic engineering fault in that the threads of the interchangeable die pieces that have to be screwed into the hammer piece do not match and they bind as soon as you attempt to screw them together. A really basic fault and the product should be withdrawn from sale.,
