For $99 you can’t go wrong. I adjusted the saddles and loosened the trem. There’s no fret buzz, no fret sprout, and intonation is perfect. The humbucker splits and I think sounds very good. The finish is a very pretty gold tone and it looks nice.Complaints: Bare minimum packaging that resulted in a few very minor finish dings. When I removed the back plate to loosen the trem, the screws were tightened to a point that cracked the finish.

I ordered this thinking it might be a good starter electric guitar for my grandson. I’m a professional guitarist, so I am familiar with setting up and sorting out guitars. This one looks great, with nice lines and a strong wood grain showing through the red stain. And it is basically playable. This is a very inexpensive lightweight small-bodied guitar. The nut width (which determines the space between strings) is narrow, so in that respect the fretboard would be good for small hands. It has a short scale and comes with ultra-light strings, which will be easy on tender beginner’s fingers. Besides, strings are easy to replace and upgrade. The pickups sound pretty decent for an inexpensive guitar, and you can get a good range of tone from them.Where the design falls a bit short is the fairly thick, clunky neck. This would make it difficult for very small hands to achieve proper position. A teenager or an adult who is not picky or looking for speed won’t have too much trouble, but a lower-profile neck would have been a better design choice for any player, especially a child. The fit and finish on the electronics is also not perfect. The 1/4†input jack arrived nearly falling out - not a big repair, but probably something a beginner would not want to contend with. The jack itself is overly tight on a plug, which is just a matter of a cheap component and should loosen up with time. There is a jagged burr on the coil split toggle that I’ll file down. The short, thin cable that comes with the guitar is so poorly shielded that it is basically trash. Even with a good cable there is a grounding buzz in the electronics that pretty much goes away when your hand is on the strings, but it’s annoying. I can reduce the buzz by running the signal through a DI box with a lift switch, but that’s not an option most beginners are likely to have. This would make a decent teen or adult beginner guitar for someone who has an experienced friend who won’t mind messing around with it to get it set up and working properly for them. A proper setup with a guitar tech would probably cost more than the guitar itself. I could also see it as a pretty good travel guitar. I will get it up to snuff and give it a try with my grandson, but I’m afraid that neck may be a little bit too clunky for the little guy, at least until he’s a little bit older.

Love the matte burnt orange finish! Light weight. Comfy to play, great tone... and an unbeatable price!

This guitar arrived very well packaged. And the first thing I have to say is this is just a fun guitar to play. It's almost insanely light (5.1 lbs.) and for beginners of any age, but especially older beginners that is quite important. I have headless and travel guitars that weigh more than this full size guitar. The fit and finish are excellent. The flat red stain (?) on the body brings out a beautiful wood grain. None of the components here are high quality. But at 99 dollars, you can't expect that. What you can expect is exactly what this guitar delivers. A great playing experience. The tuners are basic but they work fine. The nut is 42 mm across. The low E is cut a bit high, but that's an easy fix. The fretboard is a little dry. The fretwork is good. No sharp ends. No dead frets or buzzing. The action was set at 9/1,000th low E and 8/1,000th high E. A bit too high, but playable out of the box. There was just the slightest amount of neck relief and the truss rod works well. Intonation was good at the 12th fret. The slim C carve of the neck feels good, but the wood of the neck feels a bit rough. The heel joint is screws and ferrules rather than a plate, which is a nice touch. The body is comfortable with an arm and belly carve and it's 1.69 inches thick. The pick guard is a three play tortoise shell. The electronics function as they should, including the coil split. The switch for the coil split has a small jagged piece of metal protruding from the bottom, so stay away from that until you can file it down. The pickups sound good for a starter guitar. The rear compartment is well routed. The trem block is thin and the saddles on the bridge are low end, but again, they all work together fine. There are no protruding grub screws on the saddles. And the screw in tremolo bar works well with the six screw bridge. All in all, this is just a fun guitar to play. I spend a couple of hours with it today and playing a well set up guitar that is this light is a pleasure. I would take a little 400 grit sandpaper and wrap it around a piece of low E string to fix the nut slot. And I'd take some steel wool or 12,000 grit sandpaper to the back of the neck to make it smooth. I'd moisturize the fret board and lube the nut with some graphite or nut sauce and you've got a real player here. Or you could do none of that and you'd still be okay to learn guitar. And for its current 99 dollars it is a very good value for money.
