I saw a video where the pastel artist recommended the two papers that she uses for most of her work. I had already tried the Pastemat that I got from Amazon, but I had not tried this Hahnemuhle paper. The artist who recommended it was correct in my opinion as it produced the slightly "softer" pastel as opposed to the more "sharply detailed" pastel with Pastelmat paper. I now use both of these papers for all pastel work depending on the desired outcome. Happily, both are available from Amazon.

I finally tried the paper with soft pastels. It worked best with my Sennelier brand probably because they are so soft. I also used Rembrandt and they were fine. I painted a self-portrait. The finished painting has such a beautiful quality of texture. Normally pastel paper has a tooth that leaves that patterned texture. This paper leaves a soft texture that feels like you can reach out and stroke the face and it would feel like soft skin.

I usually work on Cansons Mi-Tientes paper or watercolor paper prepped with Golden Pastel medium. I wanted to try something different. The fuzzy surface holds the medium really well and you can skip underpainting with hard pastels but blending in large shapes is just about impossible. The pigment just won't move around the surface of the paper. I'm working on a landscape with a fairly long vista so there is not much detail but it's had to get a sharp edge. Mixed reactions to this product.

I wanted to try velour paper as I have not used it before, and I really am enjoying it! My pastels go down on it so smoothly. Excellent texture for paintings of animals!

I thought I'd like this velvet paper because of the velvet tooth. The pastel doesn't smear like regular pastel paper which is a big plus but it is almost impossible to erase on it. it's also expensive. I'll use this pad but I won't be buying any more.

Always consistently good. The texture of the velour gives a lovely quality when painting animals - but it can be a little unforgiving if mistakes are made when drawing the subject before painting. I sketch the subject on paper and then transfer it to the velour paper using trace down paper

J'aime ce papier qui donne une impression de douceur au tableau réalisé. Je connaissais déjà ce produit, mais il est difficile à trouver en magasin, car très peu utilisé, mais c'est bien dommage car le résultat est spectaculaire.
