I normally wear a L or XL, depending on brand and fit, with about a 42 inch chest and 5'7 height, about 185 pounds, and a 38 inch waist. I got a L and XL. The L fit fine in general with a single shirt underneath, but I kept the XL as it still fit well (maybe a little baggy), but I wanted to be able to layer underneath a bit more. My intention with it is more for the wind resistance and light element resistance as an outer layer and not as a rain jacket. It's lightweight enough for me and the material does not feel uncomfortable at all. It's not quite as soft as a softshell (though I only have a single fleece-lined softshell to compare it to) and the mesh liner is nice. It is very thin, which makes it breathable (I can also see light through it). I stood outside for about 10 minutes with nothing underneath it in a breezy wind in about 45-50 degree weather and I, somewhat surprisingly with how thin I felt it was, did not feel any chill from it at all compared to the rest of my body (which felt it even through my pants). I probably wouldn't use this to protect against extreme wind, esp. in extremely cold weather. And I would question it's durability in more abrasive activity - such as rock climbing or off-trail hiking through bushes, etc. I don't know for certain how it would hold up, since I don't do those activities, but just going by look and feel. Regular hiking and general wear should be no problem. The zipper also feel smooth and no issues. They are SBS, not YKK, but I've had no issues with SBS before so I have good hope.I have not tried it in a rain - but it's clearly not designed (or advertised) for any heavy rain. I did a test in a shower. I sprayed the sleeve on the lowest setting I had in a brief motion a few times. Water got through pretty quickly. However, it did attempt to bead off and repel a little and in a light drizzle or mist, it might work ok for a short amount of time. But I would not trust it for more than that and not for long. As mentioned, I did not get it expecting good rain resistance anyway, so I'm ok with it.The hood is a good size for me. It covers my head without draping over my eyes or causing visibility issues. I would not need a hat to keep the hood open to be able to see. It can be tightened around the face with a drawstring. The main drawback for me in this spot is that the drawstrings are just large shoelace style with nothing to keep it cinched. You'd have to just tie it without any modification. I will add cinches to them, or replace with a stretchy cord with a cinch later to avoid having to rely on tying it in a knot.Overall, for the price and function I want and expect, I believe it will work quite well. I will update if anything changes, but overall I am satisfied.Update: Walked around our apartment areas for a while in a light rain to test it out. Rain mostly beaded off and it took a little time for it to start to soak in. So it will work ok in a light rain for a short time as expected. It dried quickly when I came back in and hung it up as well.

Really nice jacket for the price. Lightweight, but still warm on chilly days. Fits true to size.

Very pleased with this purchase. Fits perfectly and is quite comfortable. Perfect weight - with a sweatshirt or sweater underneath, you'll stay warm down to 50 degrees if you are out walking or casually biking. The zippers open and close without issue and the pockets (both inside and out) are large enough to hold a phone. You won't find a better windbreaker in this price range.

No complaints with this jacket. It’s soft and keeps me warm and dry while on my mountain bike during any coastal marine layer day. I’d buy again.
