This hose is of very good quality and feels quite sturdy. If, like me, you have been using a vinyl hose, you'll be well aware of its flimsiness and cheap feel. This PVC pond hose is a significant upgrade, but there's something important you need to know: it doesn't work well with the barbed fittings commonly found in many DIY pond kits.I ordered the 1.25" hose to work with my Tetra 1200 GPH pump, which uses a 1.25" barbed fitting to connect to my waterfalls. However, when I tried attaching the hose to the fitting, it was too loose. After some research, I discovered that this hose is designed to be glued into standard PVC slip fittings.Once I used the correct glue to secure the hose, it became incredibly solid. In fact, I prefer this setup now, as it provides me with more options for check valves, shut-off valves, unions, etc.So, here's what I want prospective buyers to know: The size of the hose you order determines the size of the slip fittings you'll need (e.g., elbows, connectors, etc.). This hose is designed to be secured with PVC glue. I specifically used an ABS glue and cleaner, purchased from a big-box store. I ordered a 1.25" hose, but found that using a 1" hose instead would have given me more options at the big-box stores. For instance, Schedule 80 fittings are a nice dark grey color that blends better into a pond. I could only find this in the stores in 1" or less, though it can be ordered online.I hope this information is helpful. I wish I had known all of this before ordering the hose, as it would have better prepared me for the installation process.

Quick shipping, easy installation. I was worried that the fit might leak when gluing to sch 40 adaptors, but it fits like a glove! The pipe has some memory from being in the coil for shipping, but with some pressure and time flexing it the other way it does stay nice and straight. Great product!

This hose is what might be called "medium duty." It is structurally between the much harder PVC core, and the non-PVC vinyl only; it does use PVC for the exterior ribs. I use it to flush our pond filter twice a month. It is heavier than the vinyl only type, but still at a weight that allow me to carry iit from storage to the pond.

Very thick sturdy hose. I could probably stand on it without collapsing it. Would be tough to bend it around tight corners. But it was too large to connect to my UV clarifier and filter so I had to return it. I measured the interior diameter and it was greater than 1.5â€
