I'm filling my apartment with Philips Hue Smart Bulbs. Along the ceilings I had three 4" cans. These had conventional cans with low-voltage converters on each can. I pulled those and replaced them with these. The springs on these are very secure and pop write in with no struggle at all. The wiring harness inside is perfect for chaining lights together. Just strip the wire and use the push-in connectors. The Philips Hue have the same connector as Halo LED recessed lights so you can just plug them in and go.I have 6 more cans now and really need the low-clearance of these cans. There are really tiny, barely taller than the fixture itself. I have structure (beams, concrete) in the ceiling of my apartment that are totally immovable. These slip right under them. I'm having an electrician install new circuits for them as a part of a kitchen renovation. He hadn't used them before and loves them.

Finally a shallow mount retro-fit enclosure for 4†led recessed lights. The enclosure has built in push-in wire connectors, no need for wire nuts. They’re just 4†deep from the ring so they fit in a 2x4 wall with 1/2†drywall.Made installation very easy with a 4-1/8 hole saw and notch for the mounting clips.Box accepts two 1/2 flex connectors or has two built in romex clip bushings pre-installed.Yes they have the orange power plug for Halo or other compatible led plugs, but if your led uses other plugs, remove from the socket and replace connector in wires.Great can, very compact and takes only minutes to install.

I needed this for a specific location that had a shallow space above where the other cans I was using would not fit.Build quality is excellent. This is a nice compact design. The clips for locking into the ceiling have a very sturdy “snap†to them that really make it click into place. The wiring box includes pushin wire connections with a nice bracket that holds them in place. I used Romex with no problem. I was so impressed with the build quality that I was ready to buy a bunch more for the rest of the lights that I’ll need to complete my downstairs. Unfortunately the Philips Hue recessed light I’m using just barely doesn’t fit all the way. The trim extends about 1/16inch from the ceiling. The instructions do say to use their own HALO recessed lights, I’m sure those are made to fit better. I think if the can’s housing was a little less chamfered at the top of the housing, the Philips light would have completely fit in.

I needed to a solution to an unusual lighting requirement. I needed to install a dozen 4" elbow-style can light fixtures, but instead of putting them in the ceiling and washing the wall, I needed to put them in the walls and wash the ceiling. Most can housings are far too big to fit into a 2x4 wall, but this product fit the bill perfectly. It allowed me to use standard of the shelf trims to create a very bespoke effect. Very glad I found and purchased this product.

I brought in my trusty four inch hole saw, cut the hole, and promptly realized to my dismay that the housing was larger than four inches. I double-checked the Amazon listing- yes it was listed as a 4-in housing! Odd that..Studying details I realized it was actually more like 4.25 inches. Great, NOW what? Order a new true-4in housing and delay the project another 4-5 days? Or buy a larger hole saw in this odd diameter, if one could even be found. And with no centering hole, this approach would be difficult at best.Next? Sand or saw the hole 1/4 inch larger. That seemed like the best option to keep the project on track. So using a jigsaw, I added 1/4 inch. The once perfectly round hole was now a jagged mess.But the housing fit, and covered the sloppy cut.The good news, once I overcame these difficulties , the connector and light worked very well.They need to list this as a 4.25" housing!

I was looking for a simple shallow 4" can for a standard light bulb. Unfortunately this did not come with a standard screw-in type outlet. I was able to make it work however with purchasing a replaceable screw in bulb and wired it in.Do so at your own risk, however, I am currently using a philips hue LED bulb with this. I wouldn't recommend a regular non-led bulb just due to how small the wires are. This fit my needs, overall a good product. Knocked off a star just for the description not clarifying or showing an image of the inside can.
