I've been thinking about getting one of these steel tongue drum for a while and am so glad I finally got one!! This is a great entry level drum that is easy to learn and play. The sound is pretty good for the price and I’d definitely recommend this as a gift!

My wife was super excited to see this. It makes a pretty sound and has a nice, calming tone to it. My daughter, on the other hand, loves things like this.. she was messing with it for well over an hour before we had to hide it from her. Sounds great. Even wounds decent when she is hitting random notes at random times.. after an hour though.. its a little rough because this is pretty loud. All in all, good product, sounds good.

A really nine hand-pan for the price. I would highly recommend.

This is fine as a kid's toy, but some of the high notes have a bit of vibration to them. Also, the included stickers for note recognition are cheap and flimsy. Fun to play around with but gets monotonous at times.

Having two kids, ages 5 and 7, parents out there will know you must be careful what noise-making instruments you bring into your home. We got a Melodica as a gift, and… we no longer talk to that person. Have you ever heard an accordion dying? Pick up a Melodica for your kids. We have an upright piano we found in the basement of our building and cover it with a table runner to discourage the kids from thrashing on it. And don't get me started on stuffed animals that make noise. The Singofire Steel Tongue Drum is a lovely percussive instrument unlike most musical instruments. Its soothing sound is relaxing even while noodling or figuring out "Stairway to Heaven." It is suitable for kids, and my 8-year-old figured out "Marry Had a Little Lamb" from the included instructions. It is a quality tongue drum. I have no experience with high-end tongue drums, but this thing is very well-built. Mine has a lovely metallic gold finish without any defects. The rubber feet prevent it from scratching sensitive surfaces, which is especially important with children. This gift is fantastic and won't burn bridges with friends or kids.To burn bridges, buy a Melodica.

I can't think of many more sounds as relaxing and enchanting as a steel drum, espeically as you get into bigger sizes that resonate with deeper notes. This drum has a beautiful, matte black hammered finish and is a little small (about 6" in diameter) but is a perfect beginner drum for engaging our kids. The included bag and very nice drumsticks are also excellent quality. The only disappointment -- and it's a big one, unfortunately -- is that the numbers on the drum are very haphazardly applied square stickers -- nothing like what's shown in the product photos. They're already peeling off in a few places as they don't stick well to the steel, and it's going to be much more difficult to use this steel drum if the numbered stickers fall off.

I have fallen in love with the tongue drum. It is easy to play if you don't know how to play music. It produces such a lovely sound that any random combination of notes sounds great. You won't sound like a toddler smashing a toy xylophone. It has a beautiful resonating tone that's deeper and fuller than a xylophone and it produces a calming sound. It's great for meditation, making melodies, learning a new skill, there's just something about it that's quite relaxing. It makes playing an instrument a pleasure even if you don't know how to make music. It's perfect for beginners. It's small size makes it compact for travel. The bag that comes with it helps protect and transport it safely. It comes with mallets and a song book to get you started. The songs are elementary in the realm of children's songs. (Twinkle twinkle Little Star, Mary had a little lamb and similar tunes) It's a basic introduction to get you used to where the notes are and how to make melodies with this drum. The drum itself feels like good quality. I made sure it was in tune by using a tuning app and the app assured me it was indeed in tune. I have heard from various sources around the Internet that these mass produced drums, sold at places such as Amazon can be a gamble as to whether or not they are finely tuned. The process of mass production can let some slip by that are less than perfect. They didn't get the full attention of the manufacturer that a handmade drum gets and can occasionally have quality control issues. The drum I got is of good quality. For the price, I feel it is an excellent value due to the quality. I rate this at 5 stars for quality, sound, ease of use and value for the price. Where else can you find such a lovely sounding instrument for a beginner in this price range? I recommend this product. I think it's hard to find a comparable alternative in this price range.
