Buy This Metal Loop LoomThe best! Love the vintage design, sturdy metal frame and high quality loops. A great gift for kids and adults alike. Over the last few years we have gifted these to each of our children, and now they use them to make gifts for hosts when we are invited to dinners, parties and the like. The gift that keeps on giving. The color varieties and palettes selected for each groupings (pastel, bold, earth tones, etc.) are perfectly curated.Heirloom quality loom, I expect to see these cherished and put to good use for many years to come.Considering saving a few bucks and buying the plastic loom instead? In this instance especially, we encourage you to choose quality over quantity.Having tried the plastic looms and nylon loops with gusto I can tell you they fell quite flat. They fray while weaving, the plastic hooks are difficult to work with and catch on the material, and in the end the pot holders (and many other things you can create with these wonders, hello YouTube tutorials) Come out much smaller once removed from the loom, don’t quite hold their shape and are flimsy, more of a novelty than much else. With this brand you end up getting more bang for your buck, a better product in trade for your time and the tools are designed for use, not just as a (simple and frustrating) toy (like those plastic sets). The metal loom, metal hook and cotton loops guarantee a friendlier user experience and high quality end product.*I am not affiliated with amazon or Harrisville, the brand of this loom, in any way (all though, holler if you are looking 😉). I am just a mom who has spent years crafting. Years of trial and error, a waste not want not type, who has had to measure the worth of some lack luster products against the time it would take to get “good use” of them.We look forward to trying their larger looms, and maybe someday even purchasing their beautifully colored loops in bulk.

Wanted new handmade potholders. This kit was perfect. It is very hard to find all cotton loops anymore. Most fabrics today are polyester blend and that melt on contact with hot surfaces. These are cotton and do not melt. They also are very high quality and consistent in size. Not sure, but I believe these loops are made specifically for making potholders. In the day, I recall that loops often came from scraps of t-shirt manufacturers.Had been years since we made potholders and it was fun. Once the loom is mostly full of loops, it can be a bit tricky finishing it up, but you'll figure that out. They are very durable!A small child will have fun making these but will need help because it takes a bit of finger strength to get to the finish line. Also bought color-themed loops from same manufacturer. Good pattern instructions. In pic, three are one pattern and one is different. They look very nice. Gave a few away to neighbors.

I have bought 3 or 4 different potholder looms. I've bought different kinds of loops, too. The Harrisville loom, tools and loops are the BEST, by FAR!The cotton loops will, I believe, stand up to heat when used as potholders. The loops that contain synthetics--oops, they will not. So don't use them as real potholders! But you can use these 100% cotton ones. Also, these loops ALL fit your Harrisville potholder loom. No rejects. The other loops I bought had TONS that would not fit the looms. And the colors of the loops. The Harrisville cotton loops are GREAT colors. Not so for the other brands I bought. Then there is the loom. The Harrisville loom is shaped to help hold the loops on as you work, instead of them slipping off all the time. And it is a sturdy metal, so it doesn't bend or break as you use it, like plastic looms can.And the tools. Smooth and well-made. Some of the other brands I bought had sharp edges on the tools (and one had a bunch of knarly edges on the loom!) that would catch on the loops as I tried to weave them! What a PAIN!The instructions are great, too, and include some ideas for making other things out of the squares.Potholder looms are becoming very popular, for good reasons. When they are made of the right kind of loops, the potholders make great gifts--and are fun to make. There is a learning process, and thatis very beneficial to the weaver who is using the loom. It's also a fairly brief project, which fits a lot of people's situations better than something that takes a whole day or longer. Two tips I've read that I haven't tried yet. One is to let the loops sit woven onto the loom for a day or so before you weave the ends and remove the square from the loom. This may result in a larger potholder. The second tip is to help keep the ends of the loops from slipping off the loom as you finish weaving the edges by putting rubber bands around the edges of the loom on top of the loops. I have some leather cording that I think I'll try tying around there.Somebody needs to write a really thorough potholder loom how-to book with lots of drawings and photographs! I want that book!

This metal loom is sturdy and much easier to use than the plastic one that my granddaughters and I had previously purchased. I completely recommend this Made in the USA product.

Lots of fun. Easy to do except casting off the last row. Very important to anchor it with a paper clip or lose stitches and start over. Too small to use as potholders so consider the bigger size, although even then may not be sufficiently heat protective. But pretty. Using mine as oversized coasters. Ordered more of the strips.
