When you look through the scope you see two tiny squares, and I mean tiny! Like the size of your fingernail when you hold your arm all the way out.For my known gems I am able to tell single from double refraction, but some were very difficult to tell because of the small image.

Very interesting device! I got few small stones that were sold as tanzanite, but I didn't know if they really are. This dichroscope shows pleochroism of these stones very clearly. Easy to use - just put stone in front of the instrument, and look.The only thing that could be improved is time to ship the order. After it was shipped, it was delivered quickly, but it wasn't shipped for a week.

Sturdier construction than I imagined, it has a decently thick metal body and I don’t worry about dropping it in a pocket. Works about as well as any other dichroscope.I will say that if small size isn’t a necessity then one of the small photography lights that’s very diffuse light with a polarizing sheet on top tends to work better.But for small size, this with a loupe and a penlight can identify a lot of stones in experienced hands while fitting in a pocket.

Good product, but there is dust from inside the glass which cannot be cleaned.

This is the best thing I’ve bought so far in my new and steep learning curve into gemmology.I would urge everyone who has a need to correctly identify a stone to have one of these as a diagnostic tool. (Amongst other tools).I’ve already confidently sent fake “gemstones “ back to eBay sellers, confident I was right.Get the tools, learn how to use them, and hopefully be no ones fool.

Ich selber bin Gemmologe und benutze sehr oft ein dichroscope um ebenfalls den pleo zu bestimmen, Top Set inkl Leder Tasche! Allerdings wie beschrieben ist d. Durchmesser sehr klein geraten aber, Immer noch zu benutzen und schnelle, verbindliche Lieferung! Klasse! Dankeschön
