I recently replaced my old, bent gate lock with a new one, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the upgrade. This new gate lock is incredibly sturdy and well-constructed, providing a significant boost in security and peace of mind. The installation process was quick and straightforward, fitting seamlessly into the existing setup. What stands out the most is the solid build quality. Unlike the old lock, which bent easily, this one feels robust and durable, withstanding daily use without any signs of wear or damage. The locking mechanism operates smoothly, ensuring the gate stays securely closed while being easy to open with the key.Overall, this new gate lock has proven to be a fantastic investment. It offers excellent value for money and has greatly improved the security and functionality of my gate. Highly recommended for anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality gate lock replacement!

Easy to use, install, maintain, lockBest available - notably better than the one this replaces. I did need to chisel out a small area to make it fit perfectly, but more than worth it

This is overall a nice gate latch. We got it because out traditional type of simple gate latch was falling off the door because of repeated use (the "bar" or "strike" part only attached via 2 screws and started to fall out of the wood after only a few months). The Good:This one is nice because it attaches so securely to both the post and the door that it should hopefully stay on and working for many years. Both parts attach via 6 screws each, with 2 of them perpendicular via a right angle segment. This was the only gate latch of this design where the bar/strike part also attached via 6 screws with a right angle segment (most use just two screws next to each other). This makes it very sturdy. I also like how it is easy to use and allows the latch to be opened by smaller people (don't have to reach over the gate to unlock it or use a string/wire).The end of the latch has enough space to attach a label to show people how to open it (I used a label with "DOWN" printed on it which seems to be enough for people to use it properly). Also, I like how the device can be flipped so that you can install it on right or left side depending on the configuration of your gate. Many gate latches cannot do that which can be a deal breaker. The Not Good:Couple niggles here. There is no gap at all between the spring and where it attaches to the post, so that if you don't use any washers/spacers between the device and the post, the spring will be pressed into the wood a bid, making it impossible to replace (it's going to eventually need to be) without removing the entire assembly. Therefore, I put two small washers under each of the 4 screw sites (not the 2 perpendicular right angle ones though) to create a little bit of space between the plate and the wood. Also, the locking hole where you can attach a padlock is at the top end and does not allow the lock to hang down as it normally would because the assembly gets in the way, so you have to have the lock awkwardly tilted nearly horizontally. The spring is also a bit "tight" so that if you close the gate by pulling it closed, the force generated to get the lever to move over the bar/strike makes the gate wobble a lot after closing it (which could put excessive wear/tear on the gate/post over time), so when I close it I just lift the lever and release it after closing the gate. Not a huge deal and no way around it really either.Overall:Despite these small design "flaws" I like this latch overall and I am very happy with it so far (had it installed for almost a over a months now) and would recommend it.

Just finished my double gate which has the left side as the main swinging gate to the inside of my backyard and the instructions did not make it clear how the latching mechanism should be mounted and it was a bit confusing for a double gate installation. Your gate may be different, but the thing to be aware of is that the latching mechanism should be attached to the stationary part of your gate with the lever on the side that the gate does not open. So in my case, my right gate normally does not move and is anchored by a removable 4x4 post. That's the side that the latching mechanism should be attached to the gate or post (depending on your setup). I have mine running just above the top of my 4x4 removable post with the lever on the outside of my backyard. The striker bar should always go on the main gate on the side that the gate swings inward. I have noticed some have incorrectly installed the latching mechanism on the main swinging gate, which is incorrect and would require quite a large gap between the gate and post or other gate (or modifying your gate to make it fit). That's totally unnecessary if you install it the right way. Make sure it is mounted on the stationary post or stationary gate that is anchored to the ground by a bar or post. My gap between the gates is less than a half inch and it works perfectly. Very happy with this hardware.

It is totally worth switching to this. The way the gate closes now vs the old way, night and day. When I hear the gate make the click sound, that just makes you feel good about the quality.Only thing I recommend you do is use quality screws (get it from your local home improvement store). Make sure it's wood and fence screws as they'll provide corrosion resistance. You definitely want to do this otherwise you're going to see the latch sag in no time.

I did not know this type of gate latch existed until I got tired of the little crappy one I had falling apart or bouncing open and my dog escaping.....I knew there had to be a better solution and this is it! Now it latches securely when it shuts and it's heavy duty with no string to pull to get it to open. It was pretty easy to install even with having to reverse it to fit our gate. My husband got it up in no time. I just wish I would have looked for it 3-4 years ago when we replaced the fence!

Gate latch the spring broke on my old latch, tried finding a replacement but just couldn't find anything. So I bought this and it works perfectly so I have no complaints.
