These owls look great and do the job of keeping birds away from nesting under the roof of my veranda. One of them, however, has an imbalanced heat that tends to turn backwards all the time. That makes it less effective, and I had to fasten it, which of course is also not optimal, as the head is supposed to turn back and forth with the wind... so, I am mostly happy with it, but partly not so much.

I was having a problem with squirrels to eat vegetables. This owl decoy helps me a lot! These came in a set of two and they actually look like real owls. They were reasonably priced and all you have to do is stabilize them with sand or pebbles and they will stand alone, or the manufacturer suggests you can stake them in the yard. I decided on weighting them and they stand sentinel on a wicker table. I love them! They are pleasing to my eyes but not to the squirrels. You will need to occasionally move them around so the squirrels don’t figure out they aren’t real. If you’re having a wildlife problem with chewing rodents stealing stuffing to make nests try these . They actually work!

I planted portulaca in my flower platers this week and to my dismay, the neighborhood robin flock went to town on the new buds almost immediately. Just received these fake owls today, popped the fins in right away, filled with dirt and rocks, and set them up the wall on the permittee of the years. There hasn’t been much time to test yet, but I’m actually quite pleasantly surprised by their effectiveness in intimidating the birds thus far. It happens to be rather windy today, and it seems that the continual head movement triggered by the wind in these faux owls does the trick. I’ll update as time goes on to address how long that lasts. (Suppose the birds might smarten up and just dig right in again once the portulaca yields new blossoms again, but time will tell.)The issue is that only one of the two owls in the package I received has a swingy head. The metal spring around the faux neck piece on the other one is much tighter, so it just doesn’t effectively move in the air at all to mimic the natural movement of a live owl. I need to figure out how to contact the seller and will update on that aspect as well.

I purchased these Hedoc 2 Pack Fake Owl Decoys with the hope that they'd help keep birds away from eating my dog's food. Unfortunately, they haven't been effective for that purpose. Despite the rotating heads, the birds seem completely unfazed and continue to come around. The owls look realistic enough, but I haven't noticed any deterrent effect.They might work better in a garden or patio setting where birds aren't as familiar with them, but for my specific need of protecting my dog's food, they didn't do the trick.The quality seems fine for the price, but if you're looking for something to keep birds away from pet food, I would recommend looking into other options.

you definitely need to move these perdiodicaally, the birds figure them out. the :sail: for the back of head is too small and unless there is a majot wind blowing, the heads don't move.

Either pigeons are not afraid of owls anymore or they know these are fake. I guess it would be helpful if face change directions without depending on wind flow or emit owl’s natural sound intermittently.
