True to size. Love the color and texture. When having hermit crabs, u truly appreciate the quality of these guys future homes.

I was well pleased that there was a couple of different sizes of shells to choose from. My dilemma was, I have an extremely large saltwater hermit crab that needed a shell to convert into. He is very happy with his large shell and has already molted. I think this is the largest they can go and I don’t know where else to look for even bigger ones because this booger is a bulldozer in my tank and I believe he’s at his max!!

I got these shells for growing plants and they work well, except for one that isn't water tight because it has holes in the side of the shell. Otherwise, the rest hold water and are keeping my plants alive.

Some shells included were usable but some were not. A variety of sizes is great but the shells don’t all work for actual living hermit crabs

Like the size was worried they would be too small. My daughter has 3 crabs and wanted them for their aquarium.

We have had Hermit Crabs for nearly 10 years now. We got each of the grandkids one when we went to Florida on vacation. As my wife was researching the care of them, it takes a lot more to take care of them than most people think. They require a special habitat for proper molting. Many people think they only live a short time but with proper care, they can live decades. They were very small when we got them. Now, they have grown 5 or 6 times bigger than they were. They do not make their own shells. They move into other shells that they can find. We bought these shells for our crabs to have other "homes" to move into. These are large enough for them for the next couple of years. Our habitat has increased from a 10 gallon aquarium to the 55 gallon aquarium we have now. These shells we got are not painted and are in their natural state. This is very important for the health of the crabs. Painted shells are not recommended. Thanks to our purchase, our crabs have new homes to move into when they molt again. As you can see in one of my pictures, he has cracked his old shell and just hasn't decided to move into a new one yet. He's been in it for a while now. When he does, we will remove the old broken one. All the shells we got in this order were in excellent, natural, condition.
