While most commonly used for masking purposes during finishing, there are hundreds of other uses around the shop, home, lab, classroom, etc. This superior grade of silicone is capable of withstanding temps up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit (315 Celsius) for 20 minutes and holds up to most chemicals. I drilled a hole in the middle of this, inserted a hose connected to the second regulator, and I’m using it to back purge stainless pipe for TIG welding. It works great, and is way cheaper than buying commercial back purge caps. Yes, you could use a wad of tinfoil, but this is way more precise, and the price is great.

As advertised, did the job of plugging a glass tube. Was able to drill a hole in it and it remained intact when stretched.
