I find it useful to have some sort of self protection when hiking. This is a cool tool to have. It has a laser on the handle. Good safety features. Click the button on the second section to activate, and click the other button to zap. I see the usefulness and functionality in it. It can be extended enough for people up to over 6 ft tall. I am 5'9" and it's very comfortable when all the way extended. Might be a little too tall. I love how the buttons for zapping is in the second section so you can have some reach with it. I think it would've been better if the zapper was on the bottom so you have even longer reach in case it was a dangerous animal you can't get near. But I think that would've made the prongs dirty and rust them out easier. The flash light is also bright. It works with the button on the handle. It comes with 3 cr2 batteries. They have a spacer in between so it won't work upon opening the package. I love this thing. The realtree came is a good color option. Very easy to use. Just gotta understand what it is and how to operate it. I'm happy.

As a walking staff this is average. As a defense tool it is silly. First off the spikes are directly under your palm. As in if the cap slips as you are walking you can put your hand right on them. The downside also is they are small enough to hurt you, but not long enough to get through fur to deal with an animal. The light works well, and the zapping sound is aggressive, but I have serious doubts I could deter anything that was attacking me, and more likely hurt myself. Interesting idea, but not great execution.

This is a really cool setup. This is a very comfortable, lightweight hiking pole with a built-in punch! The flashlight works well, not super bright, but plenty bright for doing what you need to do with this. With a simple flip of your thumb, it easily exposes the money end! The taser tynes are cleverly hidden under a rubber cover, right on the handle. If needed, you can extend the pole all the way out, and reach out with the taser to a safe distance. It's a bit pricey, but is 100% worth it for the safety and security it provides.

I kind of ordered this on a whim. I was interested in what the arc sounded like because I do a lot of work in wildlife conflict mitigation and am always looking for new tools. I can't say how effective or even accurate the voltage output of this stick is, but I can honestly say the sound of its arcing will in all likelihood be a very effective deterrent with bears or lions alone. It is very loud and alarming, and not a sound any animal would encounter in the wild. If the sound didn't deter an animal, would the shock? I would hope not to have to find out, but I suspect it would. I do know electricity has always been a very effective deterrent since electrical shock is also something novel to wildlife. I don't know if I would rely on this walking stick exclusively for deterrence, and would always encourage anyone recreating in bear country to carry bear spray. But having this walking stick handy might just make having to rely on the spray unnecessary which can be difficult in windy conditions. Still, as an additional mitigation tool that is not lethal is welcome. I also suspect that this could be an effective deterrent for two-legged threats as well. Listening to the arc was enough for me to not want to find out how it feels! It's very ergonomic and very solid as a walking stick, and even has a flashlight built in. It's a great design well implemented.
