I’ve been looking for something simple, that will help to keep ticks off of me, while walking through low brush/grass. I had tried several of the rubber boot type options on Amazon (upper calf/almost knee height), but they all fit horribly. The images on those products would show a snug fit around the calf area, but there ended up being so much free space, that they made you look like a little kid wearing their dad’s boots haha. These fit awesome, however, and seem pretty comfortable as well. I have size 13 feet, with slender legs, and while these have a tiny bit of extra room around the toes, they still feel fine. The fact that the upper able portion doesn’t have a huge gap from your leg, is also great.I just got them, so I’m not sure about the durability, but I won’t be needing them for anything too extreme. I’m assuming they will last for a while, and if they hold up, I’ll probably order a second pair.I’ll update if there are any issues.

FOR FLY FISHERS:If you're just wearing these over socks - Get 1 size BELOW your usual shoe size. if you're putting them in a stocking-foot wader, your actual shoe size is fine. I ordered true to size...I wear these with thick wool socks and I still have a bit too much room in them.I've worn these on several outings to the local stream. As long as you're not on slippery round slime-covered boulders, they're great. The bottoms don't grip well on the slimy stuff, but I wasn't expecting them to. Not super-comfy to hike to and from the stream if its any longer than a 1/4 mile, so I carry these in my backpack until I'm streamside, then put them on. They're plenty warm once they fill up, and they really only start filling up once you're above the top...the zipper and zipper backing does a good job keeping the stream out.If you're in a place with slimy slippery rocks and boulders, you'll need studs or felt soles. Otherwise these are fantastic for wet wading fly fishermen. Exactly what I needed!

I wear a size 11 in most shoes like Nike, Reebok, Ascis, Newbalance, and Oakely. These in size 11 fit like a size 12 if worn barefoot. If you wear them with waders they would probably be okay, but I don't have waders to try them with. I never planned on wearing them with waders. I bought them for metal detecting on the beach and they worked great for that. The sole seems to hold up pretty good and they protected my feet from rocks and my metal sand scoop. They do keep water out until you get water to the zipper area and even then the water comes in really slow. Once the water is in it works like a wet suit and keeps the water warm in the shoe. The problem I noticed was that the water stayed in the shoe until I took them off. It probably wouldn't be such a big deal, but since mine are a size too big I was carrying a bunch of extra water around in my shoes while I walked on dry land. There is one small part in the zipper that is metal, but I had no problems with it while metal detecting. I was concerned that if there was metal in the shoe my detector might pick it up. The zipper is at the top of your ankle when zipped up, so it doesn't interfere with the detector. I was also concerned with how smooth the inside of the shoe would be. I have sensitive feet and a lot of water shoes I have worn in the past always seem to have stitching inside that will rub on my foot and give me a blister. These shoes seemed to be pretty smooth on the inside and I didn't notice that problem. I am considering ordering a size 10 since these shoes seem to fit my needs.

I actually purchased these boots to use in my hobby of metal detecting. I needed something that was versatile for detecting creek beds in all seasons and sturdy enough to provide protecting against rocks, logs branches and more. In the summer it is just too hot to wear waders and most well constructed boots are made specifically for stocking style waders and become uncomfortable when worn alone. The great thing about these Hodgman boots is they are great both over a wader and solo. I have worn them several times in shallow (less than 3 foot) creek beds and they provide excellent traction w/ superior protection by just stepping into them and zipping them up. I am in Pennsylvania and lots of the creek beds are loaded with rocks. These boots pass the protective test! The front zip up style is pretty unique and I was a little skeptical at first but it is really awesome. Easy on, easy off...and that's all there is to it. another bonus worth talking about is the rubber sole. There is a lot of organisms that can hitch rides on felt soles and follow you from creek to creek. Sometimes these hitch hikers are not native to the second creek and you can actually cause some harm, but not with these boots! My only SMALL complaint is that when completely submerged the boots take on water and don't drain. They become SLIGHTLY heavier when you're walking around in the creek but it is honestly hardly noticeable until you get out of the water and try to walk around trails to get back to the car.If you're looking for an inexpensive boot that will stand the test of many creeks and trails. Go for this pair!!

Not terrible but not without issues. The zipper doesn’t stay up causing the boots to fill with a mixture of sand and water making for an unpleasant walk back to the truck. The grip is good though and they are pretty light weight.

Got these for a bonefishing trip in South Andros, Bahamas. I typically wear a size 12, but found the 12 a little too large if going barefoot or only wearing thin socks underneath. Exchanged for size 11 and it was perfect. If you are going to wear thicker socks (like neoprene), then I would order your regular shoe size or perhaps even a size larger, depending on thickness of sock. They were flawless. Easy on/off, strap to secure ankle, thick enough sole and toe protection to deal with rocks and coral. No complaints whatsoever, and great price.

I like that they are webbed under the zipper and a complete fit. I will probably use them for fishing but as of right now I wear them when I bike to work in the winter. They keep my feet warm and dry from the snow.
