This is an amazing piece of gear. The seals let water in but not back out, keeping you quite warm. But don’t pee in it because it will stay with you.

Been looking forward to trying this Hollis Semi Dry as my go-to cold(er) water diving as I typically only carry a short 2MM and a long 3MM for my Caribbean diving. Out of the box, this was 8 lbs and looked well built - further confirmed the quality after trying it on. The inner liner make it easy to get the thick suit on. Surprisingly easier than some 7MM that I have worn. The only feature that is more difficult is when trying to get out of the suit you have to pull the attached hood back over your heads and getting your arms out since the zipper is on the chest and doesn't afford a lot of shoulder/elbow room to get out - though im sure this plays well into keeping water out while diving! Overall, very pleased with the design. I went with an XL and it fit well (I'm 6'0'' 185).

The suit fit true to size and was very warm in 53 degree water, however the zipper broke on the first dive. I have heard of this happening in other reviews so I think I will try something else.If the zipper issue is resolved I would recommend.

I absolutely love my new dry suit. I ordered the undergarment as well but have never needed it because this suit is so warm. It does leak a little, but not enough to affect it's insulating qualities which are excellent. It blows my mind that I can buy suit like this for this price as thirty years ago I paid more than twice this price for a similar suit!

I am 6'3" 165 lb and I got a large. I am using it for daily hull cleaning during winter months. It does have some gaps around the armpits and crotch but I was told this is normal. It isn't too difficult to put on or remove but the zipper takes some flexibility to do alone. I suggest taking good care/waxing the zipper because it seems likeit could be the biggest point of failure on this suit. The suit seemed uncomfortable at first with the hood on or off but you get used to it and won't even notice it after a couple of dives. The suit seems pretty rugged but I did notice slight wear after 3 days around the area where the weight belt sits on the suit but it doesn't seem to be too big of an issue yet and I will try to resolve that with some tape or thin neoprene around the hard belt fabric. When you hit the water you do not feel the rush of cold and after 3 hours underwater sometimes when I remove the suit my entire torso is still dry. I was as warm as I would be at home sitting on the couch in a snuggie. It really is that good. Just keep in mind you will need up to 20+ lbs depending on the rest of your scuba gear.So far it seems like a good suit and if it lasts me a couple of years of daily use I will be satisfied.Couple more things I like about this suit,The butt pad is great. I am entering and exiting sometimes from a rough dock and that little extra protection helps a lot with wear on that butt of the suit. The thermal/lava core or whatever they call it on this suit rocks. Even if you flood the suit with cold water when your body warms up that trapped water you are toasty warm and that warmth doesn't seem to go away.

This is a quality wetsuit, very functiona. It keeps me warm when diving in 55-60°F water temperature. It fits like a glove and is very comfortable. Great value for the money. I recommend this to all my dive buddies.

My first two dives in the Puget Sound, in Tacoma WA. Water temperature at diving depth is 48 degrees year around. While I like the feeling of being wet in the water. I do not want to be cold. I was warm for both dives. I brought hot water for post dive warm up, but did not need it.Dive Stuff:1. I did drop 3 lbs of weights from the rental dry suit.2. I wish the sleeves had zippers to close over top of my gloves.3. Buy 2-3 mm neoprene socks to keep your feet warm.4. Pockets are great for safey gear and include a d ring to secure items from falling out.
