Unfortunately when they designed this rolling magnetic pickup, they made the bushing that the wheel rides on (not ball bearings here!) too short. This means if you tighten the bolts so the wheels do not fall off - then they will not roll either. Not very useful. Coming up with a longer bushing of the right size is not going to be easy, but if you buy a (now) $7 tube of Locktite and apply to the bolt threads, put them on until just before they are tight and let it harden, the it will roll and the wheels will not fall off.Obviously nobody in the QA department bothered to assemble it and test it.If you do that it will pick up a small panel nail (1") off a surface - so it works once fixed.

Just what I needed to follow up on a roofing project. In 45 years, I had never swept the yard with a magnet. I picked up about half a pound of nails, screws, and staples. I read the other reviews prior to using it. I was careful not to over tighten the wheels. I am 5'4", so the length of the extended pole was okay for me. I heard a ping every time I picked up metal, so I refreshed the tool as I walked the yard. The magnet was strong; nothing fell off of it. The tool is light, so I could carry it around easily to the spots I was targeting and I had plenty of capability to also carry a small refuse bag with me. The tool was very fast and efficient--a perfect size magnet. As someone mentioned in a review, the extension part of the pole seemed to twist down a little during all of this activity. Maybe next time I will put some electrical tape on it to hold it in place tightly. I plan to store this tool in a small box and loan it around to my family and friends, so this type of tape should be easy to take off for purposes of storage and the resizing of the extension pole for different users. When I finished my work I found a big staple hanging from the sole of my shoe. Thank goodness I was able to clean up the yard so that it is now safer for me and my family, friends, and pets! All of this at a most reasonable price!

really not a fan of the handle. feels weak and cheap. what good is a magnet tool that can pick up a lot if the weak point is going to be the handle that can't handle it.
