On the one hand, you can get no-name cabling for less money, or get the soldering iron out and roll your own. On the other hand, you could outfit your entire studio with ultra-high end gold plated boutique cabling. Or you can do what I learned to do over the decades, and just get Hosa cables for your day-to-day needs. They won't break the bank, they sound great, they last for years, and they make any audio cable/connector combination that you can think of.I got this particular cable for a Roland Boutique synth. But their stereo 1/4" cables of various lengths are the bread and butter of my studio and live cabling needs. Hosa is always reliable and reasonably priced, and I recommend them.

My recent habit of buying boutique synths has necessitated the need for this cable. I have two of them instaleld on the synth rack and more on the way. The build quality is fantastic and I have zero issues with them. This is my go to cable when I need more.

This is pretty simple, but it's important to get the nomenclature to know what it does. It lets you insert a 3.5 mm or 1/8" stereo ("TRS" or Tip-Ring-Sleeve) headphone plug (the male, pointed part) into the corresponding jack (hole, opening) on any other device that has one (cell phone, tablet, computer, CD player, etc.), so you can then plug the two, 1/4" (or 6.35 mm), "left" and "right" plugs, which are TS (Tip-Sleeve) mono, at the other, or "Y" end, into two jacks of the type found on some equipment (for me it was the JBL LSR 305 powered monitor speakers). So it's a "splitter" or "Y" device; you're splitting one stereo signal into two mono ones. The 1/4" plug is often called a "phone" plug since it's what was used in telephone switchboards at first. 1/8" is 9% less than 3.5 mm, but the two are usually interchangable.Given that it's simple, it's not difficult to make it work "at all." What you want is precise manufacture out of materials that are fit for the job, so that things fit and it lasts through plugging, unplugging, and moving the devices around - especially at the 1/8"/3.5 mm cell phone or tablet end, and without damaging the jack. Once you've damaged the jack, you're in big trouble. The Hosa CMP159 does that and at a very good price, especially given it is 10 feet long. Prices vary quite widely percentage-wise, but the difference usually amounts to a few dollars.There is one aspect that could be better. The "y" end is initially a two-part insulated conductor (think of a large lamp cord) with the 1/4" plugs only split about a foot. To reach to two separate units with the 1/4" jack you simply pull the two parts and it splits down the middle. However, that operation is not reversible if you subsequently need less separation. It would have been simple to include a sliding part that allows you to hold the two separated cables together, like you see on the cables for some headphones. It's not a big deal, and if it doesn't matter, call it 5 stars.Another consideration is that the 1/4" plug is, as you can see, straight, so it sticks out of what you're plugging it into quite a ways - a couple inches. If you don't have much clearance, you'd probably like a right-angled configuration better. Again, if you've got plenty of room, call it 5 stars.

Perfect! Now I can hook my interface directly into my keyboard and use those great speakers for monitors as well as a stereo amp for practicing guitar or singing along with piano. I'M FREE!--free to create. They work great. Solid. Sturdy. Look professional. Snap snuggly into inputs. The only noise is the noise I make. No hum or crackle. Good clean signal on Audacity. This cable wasn't used daily (only twice weekly) and never saw the road (permanent installation), but I have zero complaints. It seems heavy duty and performed exactly like I needed. We have used some Hosa cables in my wife's gigging band for awhile now, and have had really good luck with the brand. Would buy these again.
