Of course pliers or whatever you've been using will do, but these work great !!! For only $10 bucks they are well worth it.

Work great on most of the clips but every now and then it struggles with some and slips off easier than certain higher quality brands. Great for at home. Ok in a shop

Feb 20, 2022 Update: I have no idea what tool "HERB THE POWERMAN" evaluated below or whether he even knows how to correctly use the tool. I am equally mystified by the 17 people who found that review useful. I used this hose clamp pliers on a 1/4 inch small engine fuel line clamp as well as 1 inch and 2 inch radiator hoses. The Tool when used properly worked reliably 100% of the time. If you have not used a tool like this before, the cup goes over the thin tang and the slot side goes over the wide tang. This is a standardized design that has been on the market for years. I would also say that if you have hose clamps to remove, this tool is indispensable. I am no longer skinning my knuckles with channel locks.Original Review: Would be nice if there was a way to use it in an unlocked mode but as is, it is 1000% easier to use on all size radiator and cooling hose clamps than Channel Locks. One of the best tools I ever bought.

I'm reluctant to buy new tools that have a limited function, but this has certainly paid for itself. So much easier than trying to use pliers or otherwise to squeeze clamps in awkward locations.

The metal used to make this tool is too soft and the ratchet wears out in no time. This tool is cheap and will not last. Ok for a few uses.
