Watch a video on how it works. The lid and the seal come attached. I thought the seal was missing and then tried to unscrew it and the they came apart and then I was then able to screw in the lid to it. These buckets are SUPER nice. I love how the lid screws into the seal and makes it spillproof. This is a quality food storage bucket. I use it to waterglass my extra eggs.

After years of using left over ice cream buckets for compost scraps I finally bought two of these and they are great. Nice and sturdy, hold plenty, and have a nice lid. It should be noted that there is a ring that goes around the top of the bucket and then the lid screws into that. I left the ring off as it was just one more thing to catch gunk so I just plop the whole ring and lid assembly on the top when I'm taking scraps to the compost pile. These are great buckets and come in lots of nice colors. I got the green one and love it.

These 2 gallon buckets were the size I was looking for to store grains and other dry food items - a size that isn't too heavy to carry. These come with the twist on lids that keep things air tight, though you have to install the bucket rim cover that the lid goes into. I used a hatchet to tap that cover onto the bucket rim. The bucket seems to be functioning fine and it seems sturdy enough. I would keep this away from excess exposure to heat and UV light since plastic can degrade. These are not a bad value although it seems to me that this size is overpriced - not sure why larger buckets of this style sell for a bit less. I would have to consider in the future looking for cheap regular food grade buckets and just buying the gamma lid attachments separately.

... instead of 5 gal buckets. Okay they work.ALL of these food grade buckets are insanely expensive. These supposedly are made in the USA, I found no evidence to the contrary.The ring from the gamma top the that needs to be put onto the bucket first is very hard to put on. Even with two people and a rubber mallet. I suggest trying the board method. However we finally managed even without the board and without dinging the ring. It seals nicely and will by this brand again.

Bucket is fine but I bought these for small batch wine fermenting. The lids don't even come close to sealing let alone creating an air proof seal. Even spinning the lid on extra tight, they still leaked. Description indicates use for chemicals... probably not a great idea! Ultimately they hold liquid but dont plan on getting an air tight seal.
