Longevity varies. I'm shocked that the air has been so dry, the humidifier tanks and reservoir is often empty in 24-48 hours so, the issue we just had, was definitely not a result of stagnant or gross water. The filters from the begining of the season lasted about 2 months but, the filters we ordered last month, smelled like wet dog after about 2 weeks. I cleaned them and let them dry but, I guess the glue dissolved or separated in that process and they fell apart. I had them replaced for being defective. The replacement product is different. Rather than coming in a branded box, they arrived only in a generic stickered tyvek bag and, do not have the treated green or blue layers. I was hoping the last set ordered, would get us through the end of winter. Now I'm hoping these clearly generic replacement filters will. They were a tight fit and gave off a lot of dust. I may look for a different brand/supplier next year but, being Amazon, does it even matter?
