Awesome portable indoor hydroponics growing system! It’s perfect for growing seeds during the winter when outdoor gardening isn’t an option. The setup is incredibly easy to use, and it grows many of my seeds. It’s compact, quiet, and a great addition to my kitchen.

I bought this on Prime Day along with a major brand that was on sale for a comparable price. I like that I could use my own seeds vs the other brand that has the seeds already in the pods. Perhaps its the seeds or type of plant but this garden has sprouted a lot faster than the other one. The extra holes are nice, plus how low and extended the lights go. While this doesn't have a sensor to tell you when to change the water and such, it's effective and simple enough without those features. Totally worth the money and no need to spend more on another brand. This is preferred.

So being born with a black thumb is a curse when you want to nurture nature in your life. This kit makes it extremely easy--set it and forget it for days at a time! Perfect for the distracted gardener with commitment issues!I planted 12 herbs, thinking it would be amazing to have fresh herbs right on my counter, and within 4 days I had sprouts on several of my herbs. We are on day 12 and everything but the chives is sprouted and growing. These Chives are tiny seeds, and they do have small sprouts--just haven't climbed up from the hole yet!The water and food seem to last. The pump is quiet and in fact so quiet I thought it was broken and checked to see if the water was circulating--it was.I say, if you have zero talent with plants--this is FOR YOU!

I am a plant killer. I have tried so many times over the years to be a gardener, but I thought it was simply not meant to be and I was not fit to be a millennial plant parent. I have killed cacti, wildflowers, orchids, low light house plants, full sun outdoor plants, trees, store bought, heirloom, seeds- you name it I have probably murdered it and felt insanely guilty. Plants probably tell stories to their seedlings about not misbehaving so they won't get picked out by me. Climate change isn't helping since now the hellfires and random snow of the southwest are making it so even the hardiest drought tolerant plants for my zone fail to thrive in my care. My mom and grandpa are green thumbs but it skipped my generation. This was easy to set up out of the box. Put water in the A and B bottles and set them aside to shake once the food dissolves in water, set the device in your desired location, place cones in the holes, put the biochar in the cones, put a seed in the biochar cones, put the small plastic covers over each hole (like little hats), fill the water in the reservoir, add food according to the instructions on the bottles, plug it in, turn it on to the sprout setting, and wait.In two days I had sprouts coming up. I was skeptical that they'd survive so I overseeded and that was unnecessary - one seed per pod is enough. After three weeks I have 12 gorgeous, healthy plants because I don't interact with them. In all my years of gardening attempts, I knew I was the problem. Their stems are healthy and thick- not leggy and weak like all my previous attempts. The big question after the sprouts come up is "now what do I do?" In my case, I took the "hats" off the sprouts so they could breathe after a couple days. I added more food and water after about two weeks since some of my plants were shorter and more yellow than the ones that came up first. After adding food they suddenly got huge. It was my mom's suggestion because I barely passed my botany lab at university. I don't know if it's right, but I've been giving my plants a couple of inches of space from the lamps so they don't burn. I don't know if they will, but I don't want to risk it. This is my first successful garden ever. Now my questions are how many can I fit in my apartment (one more, my boyfriend has given me a two kit limit) and who do I get these for as gifts? My mom is the first on my list to start her plants for her amazing outdoor garden and my boyfriend's daughter since she's the coolest kid I know (I'm kind of worried about her fascination with poisonous plants, but she's also athletic and into health so let's hope she grows salad instead - tomatoes are a nightshade, good enough right?)

This has been a game changer for my gardening! I plan to buy another to increase my capacity. I bought the 12 unit, which is a good size for a shelf.I'm not great at remembering to water the seeds in my garden, I do better with seedlings and larger plants. I also prefer to plant less common varieties of plants that aren't available at the big box stores so I have to start from seed. With this system I get above 80% germination (higher on annuals, less on perennials). And it's completely hands off!Once my seedlings are about 1" tall I move them into the red 18 oz party cups, with holes drilled in the bottom. Then later move them to the garden when it's warm enough. I plant the entire cone-shaped sponge with the seedling in it. I buy a big bag of the sponges here on Amazon.Using this I can get my seedlings started well before the first frost, for those plants that are harder to start and which I have low success with direct sowing. It's worked great on herbs, asters, black-eyed susans, zinnias, coneflowers, etc. I look forward to trying tomatoes next year. I find this does not work for plants with larger seeds, like squash, which won't fit in the sponges. And had less luck with dry-land seeds like lupine. So not for everything, but works for the majority of my flowers and herbs.

The price is fair, the sytem is pretty easy to learn and use. The instructions lack details, which led to confusion. Learning is easy, so after the first crop, I am about to start a second crop, and now it is much easier to get my letttuce and spinach growing. Of course there is nothing like sunlight, so the flavor is not as intense as my out door garden, but it is better and fresher than store bought lettuce, and is available to me year round. I wish the company provided extra sponges. I found a different supplier from a non-Amazon online source for much less expensive sponges. They are due to arrive today.
