These thumbwheel switches are used on all sort of lamps and lighted mirrors. You cut a gap in one of the the conductors on a two-conductor flat cord, and the switch has little teeth to bite into the ends. Pretty easy, especially if you are just replacing a similar switch.I needed to replace one, and the local hardware store did not have it. Amazon, two day delivery, replacement took 15 minutes and it works perfectly. Been a month or two, used every day, and no problems so far.Thanks for reading, and hope it is helpful.

Bought this to augment a bug zapper. Rather than constantly plugging in and unplugging a bug zapper on my patio, put in at a convenient spot. Works great, easy to install.

This appears to a sturdy product, hard plastic and metal where it needs to be. And the design is very clever so you only have one screw to tighten. You cut your electrical wire, cut out a segment on the hot side. The case inserts pins into the hot wire when you tighten down the one screw. My only issue is that to get my electrical cord to fit inside I had to shave off some of the plastic. I also had to shave some plastic off the top of the wire so the pins would work and make the electrical connection. But, this is a classic design and it should work for you too ... even if with a little extra work.

Successful using as a replacement for a broken desk lamp. Really pleased that it was easy to install (check YouTube for guidance on how to align wires). Feels a bit flimsy but will handle with care.

Neither one of them worked. Went out and bought one at the local hardware store and put it on my cord. Worked right away.

Just replaced broken one on lamp and added one to another that needed it. Hubby had both of them done quickly. Better directions would have allowed me to do it myself. But since I don’t want a house fire, I asked him to do it.

It seems like it will work okay however my switch came without a locking knut so I can't test it. After much trial and error I realized it was a missing parts issue. Ive disassembled my project, returned the piece and repurchased in hopes it was a fluke. - very annoying though
